Agreed,no way on earth will a League One club pay 2m for a player,also at a guess although they have sold one or two I would think spending 2.5m would end up breaking the fair play rules(having said that their Chairman is one of those who would know a way around it).

I can't see anyone paying £2 million for Clayton. Not achieved anything yet and refusing to sign a new contract with Crewe. Massive gamble for a club in league 1 for a player, who although has lots of potential, is not even proven in this league.

From what I am lead to believe we couldn't sign Mat Doumbe because his wages (£125,000) would have taken us approx £45,000 over financial threshold.

 

Apparently we have approx £80,000 left in the budget before we hit the financial threshold, so if we attempted to sign a player who's wages were less than £80,000 then we would be able to sign him because we haven't exceeded the % of our turnover.
