England v Scotland

Doesn't seem too much interest in this one,the first meeting of these rivals since 1999 when we beat them 2-1 in the Euro 2000 play-offs.

However,30,000 Scots have travelled south for this encounter,hoping for a better scoreline than last nights humiliation in the U21's match.

Not much interest amongst English fans but plenty amongst Scottish fans (with the exception of Celtic and Hibs fans who offer little support for the national team).

 

In a shameless episode of name-dropping (apologies), I was recently at the Scottish parliament with Geoff Hurst when Alex Salmond came walking along. The conversation went:

 

Geoff: I nearly left my coat (which had an England badge on it) in the function room

 

Alex: Don't worry Geoff, no-one's interested in nicking that up here.

 

They then had a very amiable chat about the 1967 Scottish team that beat England at Wembley.

Good game, enjoyed it. It's a one off England Scotland you can't draw any great conclusions from it. Chuffed for Lambert. Very good header.

Pleased for Lambert, you could see how much it meant to him to score for his country, that passion seems sadly lacking these days with most of them....
