Novak on Vale radar?

Evening. Thought I'd add my two penneth as a Town season ticket holder of 35 years. Novak is a good League 1 striker, not a 30 a season man ( mind you, neither was Pope until last year). He is neither slow nor quick, is decent enough in the air without being a target man and I think he'd compliment Pope really well. He's at a good age and runs the channels well. His work rate is phenomenal and this tends to make him a fan's favourite with us, as we tend to respond more to that type than a flair player (must be the Yorkshire values). Technically, he's a little lacking and this is the reason he's just not quite good enough at the Championship. He tends to play the way he is facing and his first touch is often 5 yards in that direction. He lacks awareness that is probably down to his non-league grounding rather than an academy product. As to whether he'd come to Vale or not, it's hard to say. He's had a contract on the table since October that he hasn't signed. Whether that's because he wants more money or because he wants more game time will probably be the defining element. The Brum link is possibly lazy journalism, as although Lee Clark obviously rates him due to bringing him to us in the first place, I doubt that he'd see him spear heading their frontline. League 1 is his level and regular footy in an attacking thinking side may well clinch it. Hibs are also rumoured to be interested. He lost a bit of his hunger mid season for us and looked a little heavy, but then again, he hadn't had much game time. His body language wasn't right, but then he came back in on the penultimate game at Bristol City and set two up and ran them ragged. Got the assist for the vital equaliser on the final day too.

Would be a good signing for you and leaves us with almost united gratitude for his efforts and contribution.

Personally i would prefer to have Hughesy starting than bringing Novak in, Hughesy has a far more impressive record mostly at higher than league 2 level.

I agree and would hope Micky continues to use him for an hour - then bring on some fresh legs because Hughesy never stops running. Dont think Novak would like that role so unless he is going to be getting a starting spot every match I dont think Adams will succeed in convincing him Vale is the place for him. But thats Micky's job and I'm happy with his decision - even now - before he's made it !!
