As mentioned, their new ground has no character (like most new lego-esque stadiums) but is a world better than Slatergate. What a ****hole that was.

The new ground has no corners either (if I remember correctly) but they were on about leaving them empty and expanding if they needed to by filling them in.

Nah I disagree on that one.

Some may have thought that the old Saltergate was a dump; but it some strange way it had plenty of charm. A proper old-school, traditional and old-fashioned ground. I was sad they left that place and I don't even support Chesterfield! Plenty of good boozers nearby aswell such as the Barley Mow and Rutland Arms.

Open-air toilets behind the goal with no roof and classic wooden benches in the old ricketty side stand; what more could you ask for?

I agree that it had charm but like i say, it was a dump. Very much similar to Accrington. Naff ground but one that you can't help but like.

i got my tickets yesterday, over 800 sold and about a 100 left....but getting another batch of tickets sent out (and you can pay on the day also). So we should have anything between 1-2k, depending on fridays result!

York offered the same modest charm with their brick wall toilets. Saltergate really was an absolute dive, but the real reason I think we all hated it is because we never got a ****** result there. I saw a draw once, otherwise Carl Muggleton tended to have the last laugh against us by playing an absolute blinder whilst Wayne Ellison got his painfully predictable goal against us.

Is that all we have sold I take most peopkle will be paying on the day then as I though we would take 1500 to this game.
I think a lot of tickets will sold in next few days, just hope the game on Good Friday goes ahead and we win it. The demand for the Chesterfield game will intensify IF we overcome Cheltenham.

Did you miss the 5-0 in our last visit to Saltergate? I always felt that was some kind of payback for the years of poor results! I know what you mean though I remember us battering them once I think it was the year we had McPhee on fire and with Paynter, Brooker and Littlejohn. Muggleton had a blinder and Marvin Robinson(another ex Stokie) popped up with the winner with their 1 chance!

Despite that 5-0 our record is pretty ropey away at Chessie to say the least. You have to go back to the day of the Hillsborough disaster for the win before that!
