you see it on a daily basis driving to and from work. its shocking. People need to realise that when there driving a car they are in control of a very serious situation. This young lady is now going to learn this the hard way.

The punishment for this type of crime is insufficient and we haven't enough resources to police this.

  • 8 months later...

We had our car written off in May because a lorry smashed into the back of us. We were stationary in a queue of traffic. He never even saw us. It's believed he was texting at the time. Now the poor soul has to go on a 2 day course to teach him how he should be driving the lorry. No fine...nothing. We on the other hand spent 2 hours by the side of the road and are still getting treatment for our injuries.

Needs to be a solution to stop texting whilst driving. I just can't comprehend how anyone believes they can text and safely drive a car or that anyone has the audacity to text and drive. If the victims of texting and driving were able to sue not only the texter but the mobile phone producers a solution would quickly be found.

Another issue that does my head in is drivers watching a movie when behind the wheel.

Apparently, the fine if caught using a mobile phone while driving as just been increased from £60 to £100 plus 3 penalty points.

Penalties for using your phone while driving:-

You can get an automatic fixed penalty notice if you’re caught using a hand-held phone while driving or riding. You’ll get 3 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £100.

Your case could also go to court and you could be disqualified from driving or riding and get a maximum fine of £1,000.Drivers of buses or goods vehicles could get a maximum fine of £2,500.

New drivers:-

You’ll lose your licence if you get 6 or more penalty points within 2 years of passing your test.

Why naff about texting when you can speak direct... its much more satisfying to tell someone to naff off with their accident claims and PPI claims than text... the people who know me dont text because they know I will ignore it... they phone instead

I read about a guy a couple of weeks ago who got his own 0871 (premium rate) number and whenever he gives a number out on a website to a bank or business he uses that..so PPI callers and the like get charged a fortune for their '2 minute' phone call and he makes money from it

Has a normal number for family and friends only
