See it all the time on the country roads around lincolnshire, lost count how many cars have crossed the white line and nearly hit us due to them texting or being on the phone. Drivers don't seem bothered any more that they can kill someone in a car due to using a phone while driving. Either because they are stupid, dim witted or know the police are not around and then they will only get a slap on the wrist if they are caught.

 

Example is the girl texting as she is walking to court, surprised she has not got a fag sticking out of her mouth as well. Probably texting to her mates having a laugh and being photographed by the papers, got a day off work and may not see you for a few weeks, as I am off on holiday at her majesty's pleasure - see you when I get out and we can get bladdered - LOL.

The culture should be that a Driving License should be continually earned and be a privilidge to own one, it shouldn't be considered a right, major infractions should result in loss of license for a very long time. A car is the most dangerous weapon most of us own.

 

Pulling out of a side road and wandering into the wrong lane and into on-comming traffic with one hand on the wheel in a large SUV or truck is very common here.

I think life sentences should only be usedd for those who intentionally commit an horrific crime, not for those who however tragic, cause death or injury by accident.

 

Of course the fact she is latvian has nothing to do with your call for extreme punishment has it? 6 years is about right for me in this case
