tough period

Yesterday was the first of a tough couple of month's fixtures. Only the 2 Wimbledon games and home to Plymouth looking easy on paper. I've re-entered pessimistic mode. I'd settle for 2 draws and a win from the next 3 league games.

Port Vale V Bradford -paintpot

Port Vale V Chesterfield

Cheltenham V Port Vale

Port Vale V Wimbledon Sat 22 Dec

Rotherham V Port Vale

Dag & Red V Port Vale

Port Vale V Fleetwood

Port Vale V Plymouth

Gillingham V Port Vale

Port Vale V Bradford

Wimbledon V Port Vale Sat 26 Jan

Time for the big boys to stand out I think. I think if we come out with 20 points then we should be looking ok!

To get out of this league we've got to beat these teams at some point. It's sometimes just as dangerous to play the lesser fancied sides.

We will get beaten occasionally due to either a team being better than us on the day or shoddy officiating but in the end we're as good as the best in this division so hopefully that will win out eventually and we'll get that ounce of luck that is also needed.

Chesterfield win or draw. Vale seem to do better against teams that are higher up in the league.

Cheltenham is tough, but they are not prolific goal scorers. They only only beat Barnet and Burton by 1 goal to nil. Vale have a good away record. Win or for the Vale.

Wimbledon. Vale seem to struggle against the bottom of league clubs. Win or draw for the Vale.

Vale, I hope, will get 7 points from the next three games.

Just take each game as it comes. All games are difficult in their own way. We might be 2nd in the league but every game starts 0-0 and has to be won by working very hard for it. Our league position means we are better on paper than teams such as Wimbledon, etc who are below us and we should win. However football is not played on paper. So just as I am sure Micky will do, thoughts first to the JPT on Tuesday in a game we again on paper should win but will be very difficult. Then thoughts to Chesterfield to go for 3 more points in our quest for promotion.

yep, very tough fixtures coming up and if we keep throwing leads away through negative tactics and sloppy passing in the midfield then we'll be lucky to be in the playoff positions, never mind automatic. we just need to get back into our 'all out attack' mode from the first few months of the season and we'll win most of those games.
