As far as I was a aware a player can sign for a club if he is not registered with another outside the transfer/loan windows, is this the case???

The short answer is yes. The long answer is below.

41.4 After the expiry of each Transfer Window in each Season registrations of new players and transfers of registrations will, except as permitted in Regulations 53.2.6, 53.3 and 54, be declined or will only be approved.

41.4.1 where the Player is an Unemployed Player (subject always to the provisions of Regulation 41.5);

41.4.2 where the Player was last registered as a Scholar or Academy Player; and/or

41.4.3 as agreed by the Board on a case by case basis where the Player was last registered with a Club (or club) which has ceased to trade, including during the Closed Period.

41.5 After 5.00pm on the fourth Thursday in March in each Season any Players registered with a Club will not be eligible to play in any match organised by The League, except as permitted in Regulation 54.

Sometimes things happen for a reason, for example Tomo refusing a contract led us to signing Neal, Rico leaving has given Popey a new lease of life and Ryder failing to complete led us to Paul and the Smurfmeister, dunner mither, all will come good! ;)

Could the reason be that we employ Bill Lodey?

Conner agree more. Ce la vie. Que sera sera. Not the end of the world. We are doing ow rate onner we? Keep the faith, all will end up with us getting promotion and really good players wanting to join our revolution.

I personally don't know how competent a club secretary he is but I believe the new owners will soon find out.

Well, it might not be his fault, of course.

However, given the two players appear to be from different clubs, I really do wonder if we were negotiating right up to the deadline or whether someone was just too lazy to fax the information off as soon as they got it. Notts County were able to bring in Iwelumo after Hughes agreed to join Vale, so to me something wasn't done properly at the Vale and I'm not completely buying the "phone line went down" story. I would hope that S&W get to the bottom of this.

There's also many different ways of sending a fax apart from using a fax machine, and I suspect that there was no alternative in place. This is Vale, after all. The Wallace one is not that important imo, but if Pope gets suspended or, worse, injured, not having a player of the calibre of Hughes to lead the line will almost certainly cost us points.

It could be true but everyone I've spoken to have their doubts, especially as the line appears to have been working fine three minutes too late!

Well Mr Wildes and Mr Smurthwaite, welcome to the wacky, wacky world of Port Vale Football club Supporters, hope you arent having any regrets after 4 days, give it another 6 and you will do I promise.

You see despite the fact you have just gone through what you have gone through to get this club and make it one of the most financial sound clubs in league football. Despite the fact that your plans for this club will reach far beyond anything we could ever imagine. Despite the fact that you have promised funds for players for Micky Adams to sign players etc, etc, etc. Because some paperwork didnt get to the football league for whatevr reason, or whoevers fault, to some on here in in the either, you dont have what it takes to run this club and to quote a few "Its just like the old days".

My only advice Mr Wildes as I do know you mnitor this site, is try and ignore the **** just want chaos at port vale because it gives them something to brag about and feel important about, when they are dissing the club. These are the saME "FANS" that dont show up every game and keep the crowd low, some fans we want back some we dont.

I have full faith that this is a blip that was beyond your control and that it wont happen again, if it is someones fault make them accountable for it. Even if it is who i think it is and the paperwork didnt go through because suddenly all the attention has gone from him, so this will give him something to moan about.

I don't really think anyone has said they don't have what it takes to run the club, have they? People are rightly frustrated that they couldn't get the loan signings in because we already have a wafer thin squad. When it means we miss out on a proven goalscorer like Hughes, then it is maddening that a technical error (which I'm struggling to believe) now sees us hope that our main goalscorer stays injury and suspension free until January.

I suspect none of the new people were involved in the **** up that happened.
