To be fair he gave a pen away tonight and has been part of a defence that's let 5 in in three games. Certainly wouldn't be MOTM tonight.

Clayton did two blocks and a tackle in the first half which were world class as regards determination and endevour

He played well for the vast majority of the game last night - barring the penalty, which, even if it was a bad decision from the ref, was poor defending in the circumstances - but I'm still not entirely comfortable with him. He's very very good when the play is in front of him and can make some great tackles and (clearing) headers. But. When people get past him he's done completely, all round he's a bit lumbering. He's been far better this season than last, but don't get carried away.

 

On a side note. Please stop with those chants.

To be fair we are conceding goals and need to tighten up a bit if we are to stay where we are. Just reminds me of the Brazil and Real Madrid philosophies of just scoring more than the opposition at the moment!!

For the penalty incident, he was initially ridiculously out of position! He was standing 35 yards from goal with his arm aloft appealing for offside, when there was 3 Vale players beyond the forward he was appealing against! He then had to lummox back into position and it was the fact he was back-pedalling that he mis-controlled it with his knee.

 

He's a liability i'm afraid, but I suppose the goals we are scoring are papering over the cracks, and in our position, we have to accomodate such oaths!

Claytons ace, most improved player in the squad. He looked like he would of been 5th choice too which i still can't understand.

I was very unsure of him past season but to be fair he has been very good so far this season.

He's a bit slow and has the turning circle of a canal barge but I think he's ace!
