Match Thread - Port Vale v Maldon and Tiptree (FA Cup)

Featured Replies

Set the standard of aim for double figures. It’s more than doable as every time we’re in their third a goal looks likely.

Having to listen on audio. I can hear Walters involved in a lot but not Byers is that a fair reflection if anyone is watching

Not everything in football is about constantly being on the ball.

Yes, Walters is playing well but the stand out players are Paton and Hall

The reason we don’t concede many isn’t because our defence have excelled though, it’s how we set up. If you don’t drop someone after a performance like that then he will never get dropped

And we set up not to concede, could argue if Debs/Hall/Curtis in the past weeks hadn't made those individual errors then our defensive record would be challenging the top teams. Our defence hasn't excelled I agree, but if we dropped players for 1 bad performance we wouldn't have a team to choose from.

Walters has to play every game.

Yates saying he is just getting better and should be playing at a higher level.  Having a great game at the moment.

Special mention to Ruari Paton.

Put through the wringer in all sorts of ways over the last season and a bit, but never lost confidence in his own abilities.

And now is making it impossible for Darren not to include him on a regular basis.

Maybe there was a problem, last season, that got sorted out with him being packed off - only a couple of people will know that? I think DMs attitude towards him, now, giving him a decent pre-season and playing him regularly, shows he knows what he has? Just my opinion!

I actually agree with you here Nippy, Walters will fetch us more money than Tolaj.

Second half I’m thinking give Ruari 15 minutes to try for a Hatty in front of the Hamil then unleash the Waine Train, Jayden and Ronan.

Save for the first 5 minutes a professional job and we look as we should do.. levels above them.

awful start - could only have got better which it did

should go on easily now I hope 🙂

Got to remember the level of the opposition here as I’ve seen better down the local park but Paton, Hall and Walters have been excellent and all should be in our starting 11 every week.
Horror defending for the goal again, really concerning how big of a gap there is between CBs, same as against Stockport.

Byers is a better player when he’s captain and when he’s alongside Walters as well.
Id take players like Cole and Hall off now. We need them fit for the league. Give Waine a run out see if we can get him scoring
