I wouldn't call humphries, hall or Heneghan quick by any stretch. Debrah is the only cb we have with any pace and he is everyone's favourite whipping boy who hasn't even been in the side while we have been getting battered.

Pace  at the back would be useful because as a team we have to push up and press higher. If we don't start scoring goals, and I mean goals not goal, we are going down. We need four wins just to catch the team 2nd from bottom and even then we need them to lose regularly but playing higher means exposing our defence to quick breakaways so we need pace at the back.

A holding midfielder would perhaps be a good idea but using byers as a holding midfielder is criminal that's what dm did and its probably why half our fans think he is crap. I'm not sure we have a decent one to play that role. Humphries could be the answer worth a try anyway. Walters isn't really one to put his body on the line and be aggressive he certainly isn't the player to face up to players running at him with the ball or turning to chase a ball over the top. Ojo is a spineless baby with no fight in him.

I'm still fed up.

Pace is useless when you have a 50p for a head, the positional sense of a gnat, and you get outmuscled by midgets letting them clean through on goal.

Several outlets like the Yorkshire Post were saying Bradford were linked with him.

For the record,I think it's just paper talk due to him being a number 9 something which is a rare position nowadays. And possibly the agent drumming up interest. I very much doubt he'll drop down to league 2 next season

I can assure you they definitely weren't.

They've just announced Paul Mullin on loan from Wrexham whilst deals for Ethan Wheatley and Kayden Jackson are not too far away from being completed.

Fans think hes crap because every midfielder they judge needs to be a Pirlo breaking lines with his passes. They don't appreciate what he brings to the game but he is a loss when not in the side.

Byers isn't an attacking midfielder, much as fans wants to believe he should be because they heard from Owls fans that he was the bees knees.

This. I’m certain people have expected an all round goal scoring box to box player based purely on his rumoured wages. I also think fans judge players purely based on attacking stuff, not realising what they’re actually doing on the pitch and how effective they are. I genuinely believe he’s too good for us and we haven’t built a good enough team around a player like that.

Tbf given that Bromley's best defender has moved to Lincoln they were always going to be after a CB and I guess Jesse is his replacement. I think it's a good move to everyone.

That’s a great move for him. A team challenging to come up. Is he out of contract here this summer? If so I imagine we’ve seen the last of him.

Well that’s that then.

I'm not saying they were or not mate. I rarely take any papertalk seriously until it comes from the club. It's was probably garbage to begin with

I just see this as a very small positive that our best striker hasn't gone to another opposition club again. Not yet anyway

I think long term it’s probably the right thing to do if Brady is looking more to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 type setup but it’s going to be short term pain (or more of it to be exact) until the summer when can do a full reset.

What happened with the clark rumour? Surely a done deal would have been announced by now

Fair point. You would imagine Stockley will be out leading striker if/when Cole goes for the remainder of the season

Yeah and to be honest if you’re playing that way he’s far more suited and then you have your quicker players working around him and interchanging positions. It’s going to be a horrible end to the season for us but I do agree with what the club are doing as painful as it’ll be now.

Signed until June

Based on it being short term like that no harm in seeing if he can clear the low bar the rest of our defence has set this season.

God this day could go down in the history books of transfer window disasters at Vale Park.
