A holding midfielder would perhaps be a good idea but using byers as a holding midfielder is criminal that's what dm did and its probably why half our fans think he is crap.

Fans think hes crap because every midfielder they judge needs to be a Pirlo breaking lines with his passes. They don't appreciate what he brings to the game but he is a loss when not in the side.

Byers isn't an attacking midfielder, much as fans wants to believe he should be because they heard from Owls fans that he was the bees knees.

Good move for Debrah to head back down south but seen enough of him to tell me he’s not of this level definitely and in all honesty he was pretty ordinary for stretches in L2. Certainly won’t miss that long throw of his with all the windup before looping it gently in the air.

No he isn't but he isn't a holding midfielder either having him chasing players around and putting tackles in is criminal. Yes the whole team has to do that sometimes, and he does, but he is the player you feed when you win the ball back so he can look up and play our runners in.

Unbelievable if true. It seems he worked with Brady at Northampton, which carries on the long recent tradition of our managers having a contact book with the depth of whoever they knew from their last job.

Remember Magloire was so highly regarded after he left Northampton he ended up only being able to find employment in the 7th tier!

I would say that 99.9% of managers sign some players they have worked with before and who they trust,so i dont see your point tbh

I can't remember the last first team regular that we sold, that had come through the youth system other than Dipepa, could it have been Gardiner, Earle or Mark Bright...........Open to suggestions !

I didn't say we had a lot of success with it but we haven't brought many or possibly any into the side who have made the position their own either. Im suggesting that at our level its pointless spending money to end up with a league two/one standard young player when we could have got that for free anyway there are thousands of those released by other clubs every season like john for example. The only valid reason for a club like us spending money on youth development is to sell them on so they can actually develop at a higher level.

CBs been one of the biggest issues this season for me. We never fount Smith replacement and Hall has been massively disappointing this season

We need a strong number 5 next season similar to a Legge. Big , strong.  Not scared to get in the opposition face and a natural leader

Billy Paynter and Chris Birchall ?

Just seen Bradford have signed Paul Mullin on loan from Wrexham. That rules devante out to them again i imagine

Exactly that, remember Brian Horton signing John Durnin who he had at Oxford, turned out to be a great deal for all involved

I'm starting to question if anyone was really in for him or if it was just talk.

Good spots, Paynter from Liverpool scouted at 10 and Birchall from Stone at the tender age of 8

Several outlets like the Yorkshire Post were saying Bradford were linked with him.

For the record,I think it's just paper talk due to him being a number 9 something which is a rare position nowadays. And possibly the agent drumming up interest. I very much doubt he'll drop down to league 2 next season

Well Bolton(who were also supposed to be interested) have had a large 6 figure bid turned down for Beesley from Burton
