I’d be outraged if Mitch has. One of the very few players, who despite the injuries looked good enough.

I think outraged is a bit ott when you have to consider his injury record with us and the fact that his crossing has been derided on here.

Yes he is a battler(and i am also a fan of his although it wont seem it) and he has the pace to get forward but his end product has been lacking and yes we all know he loves a tackle BUT from what i have seen so far i think Gabriel is a better overall player in that position and also John is a natural RB if that's the system we are now going to be playing,so yes it would be sad to see him leave but outraged, really??

Yes because it is a backwards move and the priority in this window seems to be moving players on. It smacks of defeatism and planning for relegation.

In relation to Mitch I think he gives his all, even though after his first stint I didn’t want him back.

im not convinced that we have any player at the club that can play in the wing back role, it’s too demanding. I think Mitch and Headley could play as LB or RB respectively and Headley could possibly play on the left wing. Obviously it would mean playing 442.

Not really. The manager has said he wants a smaller squad to work and I think one of the criticisms of this squad is its too bloated so it makes sense to trim it down. The interview with Matt Hancock he said all the managers they interviewed said they wanted to reduce the squad size so that's the clue there it was too big in the first place.

Someone like Mitch who has his contract up in the summer it gives him the opportunity to get ahead of the curve finding somewhere else than waiting around to see if he gets offered something.

Says here they paid £500,000.

Jordan Slew cost over a million though. It does show how League One has clubs that can splurge big fees on players they don't need and apparently don't even want. We don't have that luxury.

Wrex, they’re still in receipt of parachute payments from the Premier League

We currently have more players than we can register,  24 against the 22 limit, so 2 players remain on loan. how can we bring more in without releasing some ?

For those moaning about Archer already without even seeing him play for us(pretty standard it seems now),we should be thankful anyone wants to come here with our current position, especially someone who stood out last season playing in the league we were in,meaning Luton paid 200k for him

Luton have signed Palmer a midfielder on loan from Hull

It smacks of slimming down a bloated squad.  It's high time this was done.

These are the players who are out of contract in the Summer and this is what I would be doing at the end of the season:

Ben Garrity been a great servant but I would release at the end of the season due to his injury record

Jesse Debrah (according to transfermarkt the club have the option of extending it by a year) but I would release him

Ryan Croasdale offer a new contract at the end of the seaso

Mitch Clark release

Jayden Stockley offer a new contract at the end of the season

Connor Hall offer a new contract at the end of the season

Ben Heneghan offer a new contract at the end of the season

Funso Ojo release

Ben Amos release

Arron Davies release

Agreed on the releases. Surprised Davies deal is up.

Where I’d somewhat differ is Croasdale gets at most 1 year if it was my decision as if you go back up I’ve seen enough to tell me he’s not of this level. Stockley needs to show me something second half of this season to warrant thinking about, he’s just not been effective at all for the most part. Heneghan I would certainly give a new deal to, there’s an argument he is probably best placed to be club captain.

This might be controversial but I think Heneghan is in the running to be Vale's Player of the Season. I agree I think there's an argument that he is probably best placed to be our club captain next season providing he stays.

Not controversial to me. I guess you can more accurately label it a damning with faint praise award but the three I'd consider right now for it are Heneghan, Byers and then maybe Devante Cole as the top scorer.

If I had to pick my player of the season now it would be Heneghan.
