Oddly, more positives than negatives for me in that performance. Great battling display in that second half. Hopefully that puts 343 to bed nice and early to. We changed shape second half and competed better with 10 men.

Tolaj is a striker full stop. Play him up top or don’t play him it really is that simple. The other thing, and it’s controversial, but Stockley is a sub striker now in league one. Hes the battering ram to come on in games. We need someone that is a bit more mobile to play with Tolaj. Just my opinion. And not a slant on Stockley at all, he’s just at that stage in his career for me. Should be bringing Stockley into that game late on instead of Henegan. Like he was used against us for Fleetwood a few seasons ago.

Ultimately, one game and means nothing other than lessons learned. But well done for making sure we weren’t disgraced in Yorkshire again. More of the second half please and we will certainly make a fist of staying in League one.

Agree.  There are positives and with some players coming back from injury we will settle into this league and hold our own without a doubt.  Next match comes around quickly and see how DM and Co and players set up.  Come Dec is the time to decide on this squad.

Still think DM and Co will bring in some players and a couple of fringe players may go out on loan.

WTF Radio Stoke???? Who is interested in listening about a Stoke friendly?

Apparently they think we all are 🤣🤔

Fair play to the fans who kept going all second half

Their fans were looking at their phones most of the second half

Strange league? Up to now 11 games 11 wins no draws.

A little concerned that DM doesn't think the starting formation was wrong

Apart from their main striker who has scored double figures most seasons 🤔

He's actually only scored double figures twice in the 21/22 season and the 22/23 season.

Picked up on that as well.  Hopefully he wouldn't be stubborn and try it again in our next match.

With DM and Co you never know what formation they put out.

Sounds like Ojo is staying then.

I was going to say I was listening to Radio Stoke in the car expecting our game to be on the radio but then I heard that it was Stoke's friendly against Burnley and I was like what's the point of them covering the friendly when it doesn't mean anything and nobody cares about friendlies.

DM & Co did set the team up wrong at the start.  Most Vale fans would say that.  2nd half changes made Vale more attacking and easily could have come away with a point.

100% agree with you,i was just responding to a poster who couldn't wait since the last season ended to say Moore should go,as he was saying it nearly all last season but i totally agree he set up wrong today and i suspect he knows it or he should do BUT I saw enough in the 2nd to show he can change it and for me we should be ok in this league if we play how we did 2nd half.

The keeper is a worry but again it's the first time I have seen so I guess he gets a little bit of time but we need someone in asap to push him and challenge for number one spot

The formation itself isn't the problem. It's that starting the players he did, it puts both Waine and Tolaj out wide and neither belongs out there. Tolaj is our best player - He absolutely needs to be playing centrally. Byers also doesn't really have the legs to play as a two in midfield.

5-3-2 is the way to go for us.

So, Ruari picked up an injury in training yesterday hence why he wasn't in the squad which must have been so frustrating for him as I imagine he might have started today.

Very proud of the way we reacted to adversity in the second half. Lessons to take from that I think are:

1. Regardless of the formation, we need a Croasdale or Walters style grafter in there.

2. We simply cannot just expect to turn up.

3. GK and defenders need to work on their communication.

Encouraging overall and I think we'll beat Cardiff

I would be more than happy if we could end the season now

17th that'll do 🙂

3 points there for the taking today. No idea why we show these sides so much respect. Rotherham looked a bang average side to me. Poor result, poor first half tactics. Threw the game away for me.
