Match Thread: Rotherham Utd v Port Vale

Only positive I’m trying to find is maybe Moore will realise this formation is s*** a bit earlier this season.

You could argue the cash has been spent. Certainly the team we have is better than the effort I am seeing which I largely blame on Moore. Tolaj out wide, 3 strikers but weirdly setting up deep defensively and clumsy passing means it is a poor start.

Any idea where Jordan Gabriel is?

Injured

Madness to start Debrah instead of John.

Gabriel, Walters, Garrity all injured? Walters got off the bus.

Stockley winning most things in the air.

Waine looks lively.

Tolaj is not a wide supporting striker, please stop playing him there.

I think he knows we need more goals but does not seem to know how to go about it other than tinkering with the formation.

Agreed, and one of the few postives I'm taking is I think Waine looks decent. But also looks like could be used in a front 2 with Tolaj or Stockley, and then you're playing Tolaj in his proper position and using the formation which got us promoted.

But how many of the players we've brought in would actually start over our previous best 11? Maybe 2?

That’s unfortunately going down the rabbit hole of spending more money. A lot more money. We are one of those clubs who is far too big for league 2, but a league 1 club these days has a least 1 striker in the 6-8k per week bracket and about half a team that would be ok in the Championship.

What are people moaning at?! It’s an attacking formation isn’t it!??!

This has had the hallmarks of us trying to be clever and reinventing the wheel with the lineup. I think on this one given we are down to 10 just best to try and shut up shop as long as possible second half and if we can nick a goal see if can create some chaos late. The absolute worst thing we can do is go searching now.

That is a concern.

Rotherham are tipped by many to be, if not one of the strugglers, then certainly a bottom half team, yet they have been streets ahead of us.

I think Rotherham have been underestimated.

Very worrying to be honest, lots of much better teams in the league. I don't think this window has actually been any good, out of all the players we've signed how many get into our previous best 11? Not many. Sure most the team is league 1 standard but I think they will be very rusty after a season in League 2

Sky bloke is creaming himself about Rotherham. Certainly better but come on.

Waine does look a good technical player but 3 goals in 45 appearances all when they were in league 2, tells you he is no league 1 player.

Waine has impressed me, as has Clark. Byers poor. Rest average at best. Headley daft challenge which gave the ref an easy decision.

Need to do better but am sure we will over the course of the season.

Anybody know where I can buy an invisible chair like the one that DM sits on?

The only person I’ve heard who has told me this was a league 1 squad was Carol, at the end of last season during her address to the fans.

Easy to say now but why oh why did we not come out with the stifling and layered 532 that we played last season?

Solid across the back with Croasdale sitting, especially with no Walters.

Boys were so back 45 mins played and its chaos. Classic vale.

been crap so far . Looked miles off it .
