I think the game is played more at a slow slow quick tempo nowadays.  30 years ago it was much more end to end which would be even harder to referee.  At least now the ref gets a bit of break whilst the centre halves pass it between themselves for 5 minutes. 
The pace of the game doesn’t explain referees toleration of cheating such as diving, feigning injury and wasting time.

    Dean Campbell and Kian Spence have both turned down their offers from Barrow both 24 but both midfielders, Spence has a decent scoring record and as for campbell,Barrow fans saying they should of thrown money at him.

    Campbell has been linked with loads of clubs. Not sure he's a player we'd be interested in as he is purely a holding midfielder.  Nobody has been linked with Spence. I think Gotts has already signed for Doncaster. Maybe Spence is a target as he's quite versatile,  can play centrally,  right wing or as a 10. Time will tell I guess.

    Define 'not in play'. Is a goalkeeper who hangs on to the ball far longer than he needs to counted as 'in play' or not?

    I aren't sure if he has been linked anywhere yet but considering Sproson thinks we are in the market for an experienced striker who can run in behind with a bit of pace I would like to see us try and get Josh Koroma,has Championship and League One experience and I think he played for Moore for the few months he was at Huddersfield

    Well there’s a new rule coming in for GK time wasting next season resulting in corners if they don’t release the ball after 6 seconds. 
     

    So I’m guessing the rules count this as not in play, but refs have never been great at dealing with time wasting.
