Summer transfer rumours and speculation

I'd guess it's a common theme amongst lower league teams(particularly league two).  I don't know but I'd imagine we weren't alone in those stats?(and yet we still went up).  You would think it would get a bit better the higher the league as better players will perhaps have more resolve(or quality) to get themselves out of that sort of situation.

Case of the opposition folding after going behind? How many times did we win or draw having gone behind at any time? Walsall was significant.

I don't think contracts bother us too much if the club believes it's the right player... Paton, Tolaj, Headley, Hall and Stockley were all contracted players we signed for fees last season.

Clearly a 21 year-old with two years left would cost a fair old whack (and conceivably out of our range) but this post was just to point out that in recent windows it hasn't mattered too much whether someone is a free agent or not.

Matter how Moore spends the Budget? Players for development or immediate use, not long before we will know. Maybe next season will be ambitious, dependent on the gates/cup etc.

Got to be honest and I'm still expecting us to pay a fee for a player this summer

The reason I mentioned him was because when it was rumoured that Forest were after Shorrock(until the Academy coach left) he was rumoured to be coming on loan here at the time until it all broke down

Having said that,it was under the guidance of our DoF so I guess that ship will have sailed now.... he did do well at wigan last season though

None included in the current Budget.

I was thinking more the 26/27 season for sell ons and sales(although that might change if we sell someone in the summer window,it could affect the January window)

I think we will find it difficult to find a tried and tested target man to sit on the bench waiting for Stockers to be rested. There are very few target men as good as him at leading the line, winning headers / bringing others into play. I can see a young premiership / championship loan player coming in as cover.

As mentioned before, we only won once when conceding the first goal (Newport at home in January), I believe I'm right in saying Walsall was the only game where we were actually behind at any point that we then went on to win (we had scored first in that game).

Every game we won we scored first, apart from Newport.

Concede a goal, opposition park the bus, need clever forwards to score 2 goals in the lower leagues.

Anybody else start reading the Pavey Style ad, wondering where the comment was going given the context, before the penny dropped?

It's difficult to win games if you go behind. It doesn't really get mentioned but we did draw quite a lot of games after going behind. That also takes character.

Genuinely got to the 'shop now' before it clicked. I was seeing an analogy of them scraping around at the bottom of the bag (makeup bag, basically putting lipstick on a pig) with crap players and now splashing out on good players (therefore better makeup and no pigs).
