Great to have someone who can hit one from range. Currently there is only really Curtis who troubles the keeper from distance on a regular basis.

Personally I think it will be more than that MBE

I can still see us bringing in at least a GK/ 2 CB's/ 2 strikers and then maybe a couple of loans

I can also see at least 4 leaving .... possibly Heneghan/Ojo/Hart and Plant maybe out on loans or permanent...... we might also be expecting interest in Shorrock and Walters so there could still be plenty going on in this window

If a player has been released then he can be signed to a contract due to start on 1 July.

Yeah he does seem to be the replacement for Harper

Please excuse if I have missed someone's brilliant predictions, but is it not the case that all of our new signings (as opposed to the several re-signings, including Rico) have arrived completely under the radar?

Without any of the names of Jordan Gabriel, Liam Gordon or Jordan Shipley even being mentioned here as a possibility?

Fair play to the club for staunching all of the former leaks, it's a much more professional operation.

But for those of us who enjoy the sort of speculations included in this thread, we are really going to have to up our spying prowess ... 🙂

I've just looked back, and FLW did put us jointly in the race to sign Jordan Gabriel some 10 days before we actually did sign him.

But it's still fairly thin transfer speculation pickings compared to years gone by at Vale ...

 

I know Shipley played against us 3 or 4 times. I think they used him on the left in either in a 3 behind a main striker (Marquis?), or as a winger.  My only recollection was he didn't have a lot of pace as a winger. I'm not sure he's a central midfield player in a 2, possibly on the left of a 3. Doubtful he'd be ahead of Walters, Croasdale,  Garrity or Byers for the first game of the season. It is a position where we need another body but I think we'll struggle to upgrade what we have (similar to our front 2). I suspect the big attractions for Moore was versatility,  a decent left foot and he's in the price range for a position where he needs more depth but has good strength already. Possibly adds decent cover at left wingback - if Hedley, Hart, Shorrock and Gordon are all injured!

I can't see any more midfield players coming in now. Centreback, another forward and probably a couple of ex Academy players. Either a loan keeper or a permanent signing.

Given the names seem a bit left field it does make you really wonder what the club’s shortlist for positions look like.
