Im not a Stokie at all but I like engaging in the oatcake fanzine website and also other teams fans websites but the oatcake more.

Stoke fans absolutely despise Lee Darnbrough and blame him with a couple of others for position they have been in the league over the last 2 or 3 seasons.

that being said, welcome aboard Lee

Tbh BJ i would be more interested in what the other clubs think of him and the fact he has worked with DM before at wba so he will know him.

The club down the road is poison whatever position you hold there imo

With Stoke I view it the same as evaluating managers they’ve had. Because of the sheer volume of them who come and go and then do well elsewhere it makes it seem like they’re not the problem unlike Walters and Coates Jr. Ultimately any signing made will need to be signed off by DM though.

He was responsible for Johansson … although he was pretty well establish when Stoke signed him.

It’s a bit hard hard to judge anyone he signed at Stoke. That toxic disaster zone made £40m, champions league next year, premier league rising star, Liam Delap look like Ryan Loft

Can’t judge anyone based on working in that environment… place is a toxic dumpster fire.

Before he joined them, he was highly thought of and wanted by wolves to be their Sporting Director.

Found this article that says:

He is credited with helping Hull land exciting young talents like Reece Burke, Jordy de Wijs and Leonardo da Silva Lopes, while he was also the man to bring Tom Heaton and Michael Keane to Burnley, and his talent spotting and ability to broker deals has earned Darnbrough an impressive reputation within football.

I don’t know much about Darnbrough - but I do know that you cannot really judge anyone for their efforts at that shambles down the road.

Every manager, every DoF, every head of recruitment, and 95% of their players are ‘garbage’, apparently. It’s definitely not because they’re an incredibly poorly run club, still operating like it’s 2008, trying to pacify a weirdly demanding fanbase who struggle to accept middle of the pack in the 2nd tier is their proper home.

He will rightly be judged on who he can bring in here and how they perform for us

Can I just point out that I’m behind everything that Big D does & I have welcomed Lee on board.

He’s been at some really great clubs,

apart from Stoke, and it will be good for him to be a success here to ram it down those lot down the road’s throats.

I guess it rules out Nathan Lowe signing

It will be interesting to see if any are available who he has dealt with before(released or otherwise) as it looks like he has dealt more with Championship players and abroad

Not sure how far our scouting network stretches currently but i would guess he will have contacts abroad,it would be good for us if we can utilise an overseas scouting network a bit like Rudge did with Holland BUT I also dont mean a smurf like one where we bring in players from Kazakhstan league 4
