I thought he was decent at the beginning of the season but struggled on his return from injury thereafter.

He looked a bag of nerves as like all the other CB’s. I don’t think he was any worse than Smith,Debrah or Jones last season. They were all equally <ovf censored>.

I agree that i thought he also did well at the start of last season and none of the CB's covered themselves in glory either but I do think there are better options out there,I guess we will have to see where this one pans out now with Yak

"A practice game" he says here so presumably a behind closed doors game - this is a different interview to the club one

Thanks for that,I just wondered with one not being listed so yes it looks like it's behind closed doors

Went to the Kidsgrove game expecting to see some goals.

However, Kidsgrove were excellent. Very dogged, organised and determined.

It was a great workout for us.

Tolaj was dangerous and lively, although he should have scored at least 1.

Midfielders and defence were steady.

Still think we're lacking a bit of creativity.

Another couple of wingers needed for me.

How did Shorrock play on the wing?

Did okay. Something I noticed about the youth players (Shorrock, Dipepa, Lomax) is how much more 'built' they look close up. Not sure if they've been on the weights over the summer but they don't look like kids anymore!

No one really stood out tbh, mainly due to how gritty Kidsgrove were. They were great opposition and didn't give us much time or space.

I'd imagine if we played them in a month's time, things would be different.

But after only 1 week of training + playing the night before, they're still getting their fitness/understanding.

Oh you’ve decided to chirp up now have you. Went a tad quiet when we were making some decent signings. Get back under your rock Bill. It’s a pre season friendly it’s about squad unity & fitness not the scoreline 🤦‍♂️

Well, tbh, I did expect a few more goals.

As for the signings, I wasn't quiet and have positively commented on at least three of the signings.

Didn’t go the Newcastle game but went the Kidsgrove match, hard to take too much from these early friendlies though as they are basically a glorified training session, the plus for me was the new lads all looked like they could be an upgrade on what we had last year especially Tolaj, Stockley & Hall, also good to see Mitch Clark back fit hopefully he can have more luck with injuries this season, still feel we need a right winger with some pace as we still look like we need that bit of lightning pace/skill in the side also still wouldn’t mind seeing an old head at centre back to go with Hall/Smith

Leek Town v Port Vale

or

England v Holland

Thanks, Granville.

Including a much more positive appraisal of Iacovitti.

That’s still my wish list. Winger and CB

Are we playing in black shorts and socks this season ???

I thought we were playing in all white this season ?

Was pretty poor the second half trialist. Don't think we will be persevering with him. Number 8 in the first half was OK. Of the 3, i thought the guy who played right wing at Newcastle was the best. Looked decent.
Hopefully the management team won't make a judgment on a sole 45 minutes against Kidsgrove

Looks like Moores set up is 4 -4-2 based on friendlies .

Like it if Hart and Clark bomb on and carry ball with intent to actually want to score then Vale should be a excellent watch next season.

Good teams score from anywhere .

In order be a good team you have to have players who are brave with the ball for example saka last night chislett for his first goal v NT he set it up himself with world class skill and  finished it like Cantona.

Edited by Dipepa delight

The leek game is meant be vale academy players playing. I suppose even though they have signed first year pro deals shorrock, dipepa, Davies, Lomax and buah still fall into that category as there 17 or 18 so they could all play.
