Is that cumulative? So 100 Prem appearences would hypothetically cumulatively net us 7.75m?

The FSA describe those kinds of fees as cumulative.

Had a look at your link. Unfortunately it says:

There are also cumulative fees based upon the number of appearances (up to a maximum of £1.3m) if the player makes 100 Premier League appearances.

Really enjoyed the gaffers interview with Bowers. Was nice to see him smiling, energised & ready to go. 19 sleeps & counting! ️

I know it's a results game that's obvious but i do think DM has won a lot of fans over with his end of season fans forum and with this interview as well.

It's refreshing to know that he makes all football decisions now as the manager,i am really excited for this coming season(the signings have helped) one thing i have always done and that's backed DM on here even during the <ovf censored> time and others wanted him gone,i still think he is an excellent manager who i hope will now prove that,i want him to stay long term but the problem we will have i feel is another club wanting him if he is successful here

Yes, agreed, I've just very belatedly caught up with the Darren interview and it is excellent.

If Darren and his management team now achieve a successful 2024-2025 season, imho not only would Carol and the supporters want him to stay long-term, but Darren himself would want to stay long-term.

My impression of Darren's character, from everything he says, is that he wants to build up every aspect of our club.

And that he knows very well that he has linked up with the rare quality of owners who have backed him long-term and who will give him every chance to fulfil his ambitions to build a club to his own high standards.

Even if any of the "big name" clubs does come sniffing, he knows very well that managerial life expectancy is measured in months rather than years at most of those clubs, and that the regular managers merry-go-round means the odds are that he would be gone before he had a fair chance to build.

Yes, such a move would give him more money in the bank but it would also give him a lot less job satisfaction.

I may be guilty of wishful thinking but this does, at least to my view, seem a plausible analysis.

You can read that as the max individual fee is £1.3m though. It's not explicit that the max accumulated figure would be £1.3m. At what point would you draw the line too to say they're not going to make any more appearances so this is the figure we'll now pay? Cumulative payments are more logical in that regard.

£7.75m for a home grown player making 100 prem appearances wouldn't be an outrageous amount. Man Utd paid over £8m in today's money for Nick Powell to play just 46 mins in the Prem.

Get back to League One and then if we can challenge you might be right,it MIGHT be that he could become a rare breed like Rudge but there is a long way to go yet,he still very much has to prove himself here

Your last sentence sums it up, you are definitely guilty of wishful thinking.

If a big club, or a club in one of the top two tiers, comes sniffing then the chances are that Moore will be off.  We do have good owners and he does have a genuine chance to build something here but the life of a football manager is a precarious one and he could quite easily fail with us and then disappear into managerial oblivion, so if given the chance I’m sure he’d grab it with both hands.  Looking at it objectively, he’s gone from managing several high profile clubs to being appointed at Port Vale, who are subsequently relegated to the fourth tier of English football.  His career is currently on a downward trajectory and he’ll be trying to reverse that slide and manage as high as possible as soon as possible.

The thing with manager loyalty is that we wouldn't show any managers any loyalty if they performed poorly, so why should we expect them to stick around if they're good?

Moore will be gone within 2 years, good or bad. That's management. 86/92 have been in their posts for more than 4 years, and 2 of those are Pep and Arteta. Another is Simon Weaver, who is employed by hid DAd.

Yes, not as clear as I interpreted it.

Tbf on that score I think carol has shown bags of loyalty to managers even when they clearly can't cut it here,a lot more than many owners would show

Managers are the fall guys always, often “failing” because they are not supported, poorly defined targets, targets reached but then other stakeholders (fans) think they have not met target, outside influences like injuries, the list goes on. The fact that there are only 92 jobs and every year I’d love to know how many leave and how many new managers come in. It’s a roundabout where there’s always another job. No reason one wouldn’t stay in a job if the money is right, the structure is right, they are given the tools to do the job and they are ultimately happy. They could just be crap though.

It's just about possible as James Gibbons has signed a 2 year deal there. A long way off convinced as he seems very much a person who prefers to stay local.
