Summer transfer rumours and speculation

A problem with Garrity and Chislett being our best players is they get in each other’s way. Both want to be in the attacking midfield role and the other inevitably has their wings clipped. Selling one for 6 figures makes sense.

I think you’re off on this one Joe, depending on how far into 6 figures you’re thinking.  I’d never want to sell goalscorers by choice.  Obviously if offers do come in then we’ll have to consider them.  Anyway, both players have completely different attributes.  Garrity, a hard working battler who can win you the ball and scores goals from midfield.  Chizzy a tricky flair player who creates chances and scores a few himself.  I’d try and keep both and maybe hope for a stupid offer in January if we’re not challenging.  As ever money will dictate, be that a better wage offer for the player or a fee we can’t refuse.

Always the chance one could be out for a month or two with an injury just like Ben was too

Paddy Madden has left Stockport. Proven lower league goal scorer. Age 34. They couldn't agree terms.

I think it was mentioned on here earlier that Stockport fans said he wanted a 2yr deal but they only offered a 1yr

Just noticed that Raggett and Rafferty have been released by Pompey. There's little doubt we need some physical presence to bolster our defence (at 6'5" Raggett would be the perfect partner for Smith in a back four) and/or at full/wingback (where Rafferty has been excellent for Pompey). We could do a lot worse than these two but my guess would be that they are both out of our price range, which is a great pity. Just shows that there will be lots of really good players out there looking for clubs.

Cheque book out, please Carol.

Dave McGoldrick, because of his love of the club, went to Notts County at age 35-36 and scored 12 goals in 30 games in 2023/24. He made himself affordable whereas I fancy Madden wants an end of career couple of years min wedge.

A potential option could be Lee Gregory maybe? He’s been saying his goodbyes to Sheff Wed on Twitter. Not sure if the finances would work but Moore had him there so maybe he could check in with him?

Where do you play them both? What formation facilitates that?

You either

a) drop Garrity deep - a waste

b) put Chislett wide -  a waste

Only guessing obviously but you would think plenty of League One clubs would want him

A striker who suffered a bad injury but no doubting his ability and who could get released is Charlie Wyke, would anyone take a punt on him for League 2 football all dependant on these players wages though i guess

Could play them both behind the striker in a 4-3-2-1 maybe but it’s a long shot & there’s no width then. You have a good point but if you sell one who would you replace him with as they would be sitting on the bench anyway If we are not playing two attacking mids. They’d have to be as good as the one you sold & happy to play back up. Difficult one, I have a feeling Chislet will be gone anyway

How long do we give players to decide on contracts we have offered? I am thinking more about the young lads,I mean Walters has had about 3 months

And the rest 😂

Other than with us has Chislett played most of his career down south? It could be he hasn't settled hence the Charlton rumours,if thats the case then we might be best to cash in and try tie Garrity down to a longer deal
