Well, more than anything they want a higher wage than the competing clubs , and if you're putting money into various long-term projects without external investment, then that money has to come from somewhere - probably the wage budget.

It's a chicken and egg scenario. Do you build the infrastructure first to develop players, which you can then profit from and invest into a higher wage budget, or do you ignore the infrastructure and go all in on the wage budget to attract better players who win games of football, increasing attendances, and then use that extra revenue to fuel infrastructure investment?

We've gone with option 1, and it's not going very well.

You are right that it is a chicken and egg scenario, that probably needs a 'best compromise' between the 2 options mentioned.

If you solely went with option 2 and ignored option 1, then once you've attracted say the extra 2,000 fans but then need to further increase wages, bring in better players and need to improve the then further neglected infrastructure to progress, where will that money come from?

Option 1 requires time, option 2 possibly requires richer owners. A 3rd possible option is taking the priorities and/or quick wins from option 1 and looking at other ways to contribute towards the playing side and infrastructure development e.g. Stadium name sponsor, different shirt sponsorers or like Stevenage owner, selling a stake in the club.

I'm glad I'm not the one having to make these decisions.

If someone slags me off mate

I'm not going to put up with it

The team got great support throughout the game today, Nippy.

That gave them the confidence to play well.

You have a great ability to post the negative aspects but after going 1-2 down we could have collapsed but didn't. Their were a number of occasions where the ball could have fell for us but didn't. The save late on from Lowe in particular was excruciating but the players didn't give up because the fans didn't give up and we got our just rewards.

Did you look at our bench when Funjo scored they were going crazy. Even the Polish lad who hasn't been here 5 minutes was dancing on crutches. This group of players genuinely care.

The only thing we need the fans to do between now and season end is to vocally support the players through thick and thin and stay together. That's what will keep us up.

If you want to vocally protest then do us, fans and players, a favour and stay at home to do it.

The club has a great owner and we deserve to stay up for what she has given this club since buying it.

Any vocal protest at a time when the window is closed can only be counter productive.

We as a club need to stay together and fight to stay in this league.

The recruitment, the January transfer window 2024, has been shambolic. That is either the fault of DF for being incompetent, or the fault of CS for not providing the necessary funds to compete with the likes of Fleetwood, Cheltenham, Carlisle, Cambridge, etc... for players of the required standard.

L1 is very weak this season and, while I've not seen many good sides visit VP, I've also not seen many sides as weak as we are. We're weak in defence and toothless in attack.

We did have a very strong midfield before Christmas. We lost Ojo, Garrity, Arblaster and Devine in January. Hopefully getting OJo back can be our catalyst for improvement! 🤞

CSs open letter, defending DF, leaves me wondering if it's the lack of funds for a competitive budget that is the problem.

For me, if we had one "decent" manager, we could get rid of several other backroom staff and free up some funds for a couple of players. A striker and a couple of full backs might be a start!

I don't like to critise Carol, her and Kevin saved our club from NS and almost certain oblivion. However, the balance on spending between the stadium and community projects, vs the first team, needs to be reviewed and redressed!
