Have never known a Vale signing get given a stage by stage report on it like this. What it does show is how much work actually goes into getting one over the line even after the point of reaching agreement I guess.

Lets hope he lives up to the fanfare.

I know it's not what you meant .... but who was the loan signing who stayed longest. The only season long loan who did a full season I can remember is Butterworth. I think Plymouth had a few players who did back 2 back season loans. The only player I can think of is Remi Street but I think there was a gap.

Dennis the menace?

Ben Whitfield I think lasted the whole season or at least from the point he signed on loan.

Marriot apparently on just over 4k a week , not even in Fleetwoods top 3 earners.

I suspect by get rid means Fleetwood would like to recoup the transfer fee AND get all the wage off their budget. I suspect they are close to bankruptcy and the players signed last January will be a substantial wages. If they desperately need to sell they have a left sided player (Promise something) who looks really tidy and isn't high profile, so maybe meets our salary structure.

After their chairman went to prison they have lower gates than us with a squad on Derby or Portsmouth wages. That will not end well.

Didn't Inniss do 18 months in theory but got injured several times so the number of appearances might seem pretty low?

Reportedly one of the highest paid players in League One........ so chances are zero on that one

I know thats why they need to offload. Looking at it logically nobody else is going to be interested at his current wage. I don’t see any of the top sides in this league wanting him so he would need to move on at a reduced salary unless Wrexham are interested.

I also heard they are shopping Jayden Stockkey around, another high wage earner. It maybe one or the other or it could be they need both players to leave to remove to reduce operating costs.

Same as with Reading we have to be opportunistic with clubs in need.

I think he officially went back, so 2 spells.

I think you're right, great first poor second half.

i really rate whitfield. I mentioned i'd like see us go in for him again last season but got laughed at. Having another good season at Barrow & he would fit in nicely in one of our 10s roles

Technically yes but didn't play for his parent club or anyone else in between so it's probably one of the longest you'll get by how it appears in print on his appearance record and but for injuries would probably have been a season and a half
