January Transfers and Rumours

Featured Replies

Sang has improved, while Clark and Plant are good options at RWB. Gibbons can do a job on the left; although he doesn't answer the lack of a proper LWB who can cross with his left. If we'd signed Gibbo we'd still be overloaded with right footed wingbacks. At least Grant might be back and hopefully fit for the rest of the month. What we desperately need is someone left footed to play LWB.
Imagine actually having a left footed LWB [emoji849][emoji1787]

We already have signed the yak, Wilson, grant, jones onto contracts this season knowing they have a history of injury problems. So of course we’ll sign gibbo to play out of position and then act surprised when he too gets injured again.

We really need to get Walters signed up to a long term deal asap

Also if they are backing AC until January then please lets bring in a striker who has actually proven they can score goals and not some Academy lad on loan

At this moment in time we need proven and not gambles

Just watched Eastleigh and their striker McCallum scores both goals and scores for fun but is probably way out of our price league.

However how about a cheeky bid for Reading striker Smith who would play off Uche in a Tony Naylor fashion.

More importantly with the Royals in financial distress he is probably within our price range.

Good shout Jonah.

Reading have been reported to be failing to pay wages again, if this is true, then I'm sure Smith can walk away on a free transfer

Micky Mellon’s son, on loan at Morecambe has scored for fun, so too Barry at Stockport.

McCallum had his chances years ago and is now about 100, well 30 apparently. Never done much outside non league. Scott Quigley meanwhile..

Strikers at our level are rarely a case of "he's scored for them, so he will score for us".

It's about the style of football.

ie what type of chances do we create? If we create chances in the air, get a Pope v2. If we create 1 on 1's, get a Louis Dodds v2 etc.

However, I'm not really sure what type of chances we create!

McCallum has been around for sometime has mostly done well at national league level.  I think he's had a spell with Orient in League Two earlier in his career and didn't do a great deal? Other than that his record is very good in the NL surprised no one else has taken a gamble on him although would appear he's a Londoner based on all the teams he's played for and has sparingly ventured north of Watford Gap!

McCallum is on more money at Eastleigh than he will earn at Vale, never mind the fee.

Also a handful as well, his manager said that he used to fall out with him when he had him at another club a few years ago,he said he now trains when he wants and that gets the best out of him McCallum that is,probably why league clubs steer clear

Now the lad Mellon currently scoring in league 2 might be worth a punt

It will be recruitment team behind the scenes at Sheffield United that will make the decision or at least inform Wilder on his development
