But I am questioning whether it was a penalty for us, so levelling up. Do you think it was a penalty? As you always agree with the ref if the decision goes against us.

I agree with what you are saying.

For me it was a penalty and if it was given against us, I would say the same.

You may well be correct, but I’d certainly be protesting it if it was against us.

I wouldn't,  under the rules of the game it's a stonewall penalty and sending off. If it was our keeper I would also call him an idiot for giving away a penalty and getting sent off for an equaliser so early in a game. I'd say he would have done the right thing winning 1 0 with 5 minutes left. It wasn't a 50/50 call, it was as blatant as any all season in any league.

I think the officials decided to try and level things up with the Conlon decision. It will be interesting to see if the Lincoln player gets an additional sanction, over and above his yellow. Without seeing the video people who saw the incident say their player kicked Conlon. Conlon indicated he had his shirt grabed. I would imagine he then knocked his arm a way to get it released prior to the kick. Their player has probably claimed an elbow in the face; possibly with a degree of simulation.  The officials have played a hunch, rather than seeing the incident.  If they didn't see it clearly they shouldn't have given a red. There was a similar type of incident earlier in a season when a retrospective red was given for an elbow in the face on Smith. I don't have an issue with this as there were players between the linesman and referee and the incident. That is the correct decision if an official has not seen an incident. If there was any simulation,  or play acting by their player I would hope the FA will give a significant penalty for more than 3 matches. The bottom line is their player KNEW no violent conduct had occurred and let the situation unfold to his and Lincoln's advantage.

As well as a L2 game tonight, the referee has now also been appointed to Charlton vs Morecambe in L1 on Saturday. Good to see there’s accountability, eh?

I'm not sure the referee actually did anything wrong. It was the linesman and 4th official who made the decision.  He allowed the goal, which indicates the initial foul was by their player (probably off the ball) so we were playing an advantage I would assume.

Joke isn’t it. I actually think referees would get less abuse off both players and fans if they had to come out after a game and explain why they’d made a decision/apologise for a balls up. It’s absolutely ridiculous that no one still has the slightest clue what a player got sent off for.
