Been going on for years in some form or another.

 

Why did we get kicked out of the League?

What were Cloughie and Harry up to with their brown paper bags?

What have Messi and Ronaldo been up to?

 

It's a very murky world.

 

Yes, a murky world inhabited by an even murkier population.

 

A quick glance at Abramovich’s Wiki page makes interesting reading. The same applies to the current Everton ownership and many, many others.

 

Of course we have no way of knowing, but it would be interesting to know the TRUE levels of financial “involvement” within ALL clubs by their respective owners. I particularly found the quote about “directors loans” in the OP link particularly interesting.

 

Corruption in football ownership had gone on for donkey’s years, but it usually involved brown paper bags, biscuit tins or the like.

 

This is now a whole new ball game. But the level of corruption even at the lowest level of league football, I suspect, would be eye watering if it were ever to come to light.

 

By the way, how are relations between Black & Gold and Smurfthwaite at the moment ?

I went to St.Petersburg a few years ago.Our Russian guide pointed a large amount of bags full of white powder.She said that it looked very similar to what a certain football club owner was obtaining his vast wealth from,amongst other businesses he had.The name she mentioned slips my memory.:wink:
