Port Vale manager admits luck was on his team’s side after win at Oldham

So when we lost to Carlisle because of some poor refereeing, did you object to Aspin saying we had bad luck and did you think we should have taken the three points?

I couldn’t say about Carlisle as I was away, but you’re missing the point. This was a good opportunity to try and inject a bit of positivity after a frankly disasterous defeat and all we get is a strap line along the lines of “we rode our luck”. At Oldham who had already lost 3x at home. And people wonder why we are getting sub-4,000 home fans these days.

Losses against MKD and Newport sound familiar?

Just what you want to hear from the manager after bouncing back from a thumping loss....not.

He's given an honest opinion which is nearer the truth than 90% of other managers give and I applaud him for it. Perhaps you would like the David Artell version of after match interview, where his side are always the better team even after a 6 - 0 drubbing.

Aspin's comments about getting the rub of the green for a change were only a small part of his interview. It's you who's making more of it than the manager did. Contrast his honest appraisal of the game with Artell's comments after their win at Stevenage - look at the sending off and tell me it was a stone wall red card no question!!!
