I need a volunteer to take on the OVF prediction panel this weekend. This was a regular frontpage feature but has stalled a bit recently.

2-1 Vale. I got the 2-0 score to vale right the last home game vs Northampton but on every other occasion this season I have been way off the mark.

If you do it's dead simple...

 

I just need you to PM me with:

 

1. A score for the Oldham v Vale game

2. A sentence or two about what you think will happen in the game

3. A couple of sentences about yourself (how long a Vale fan, how long on OVF etc)

It'll be more than that Andy, if Neil goes again with a midfield that would make the Umpa Lumpas look tall.

I don't get this small man syndrome many appear to be concerned over, football has been littered with many small midfield terriers, and some were absolute loonies.

 

Alan Ball, Nobby Styles, Billy Bremner, Johnny Giles, Peter Hollins, Roy keane, Paul Scoles, Gennaro Gattuso, Steven Hunt, Lee Bowyer, David Batty, to name a few just off the top of my head.

 

Have never seen Clarke duck out of any challenge, Miller steams in to any defender regardless of size. and Conlon is combative as any midfield player, so surely it's not the size but the mentality that matters most?

 

Aspin has understandably been accused of worrying too much about who the opposition is and if he plays anyone because they are the biggest (and look what happened when he did that Saturday) not necessarily the best is he not doing exactly that?

 

If fit, I think most would agree Manny and Conlon are by far our best pairing, but neither are big, and in my eyes it simply doesn't matter. If they are the best we have, you surely have to go with them regardless of the opposition. If you don't, God forbid, we would also end up, with Popey and Quigs up front!
