Brexit again...

If there is a confirmation referendum it has to be on the same question, a simple leave or remain.

If anything is added it becomes a new referendum .... a different question.... ie Labour's proposition to have a referendum on a negotiated deal or leave is fundimentally different than the original question and is not a confirmation of the original.

It has to be the same question, otherwise it takes about 6 months to decide the wording on the form, Cameron blamed the wording for his disaster.

The court ruled on the case in front of them, any action against the function of parliament can be challenged. The court was not looking at previous cases with different circumstances. There will always be disputes whilst the PM retains powers previous held by a royal, when parliament is sovereign. The PMs power should result from retaining the confidence of the house. This clown has none.

Of course it did..... it also set a precedent..... once that door opens anyone can walk through it at any time after.

The reason for proroguation can be challenged..... it has nothing to do with the house or confidence..... is Millar a member of the house?

The decision is huge and has far reaching consequences.

If the confirmation referendum fails the status quo remains

There is no status quo........ just more infighting from a different perspective..... the problem just perpetuates

Think of the initial reaction....... remain lose the first referendum and don't win the second referendum but wins.... that pill won't go down easy mate.

Perhaps the proper question to ask in the first referendum would have been a single question.....

Do you want to leave the EU

With only one box to tick...... yes...... if you want to remain you dont vote.

With a 51% minimum of the electorate as a pass rate..... the only winners or losers are leavers.

My cheek protrudes a little

As it stands, with the glorious winners returning.Sturgeon wants a vote of no confidence,Corbyn doesn’t.Awaiting the Lib/Dems jury vote.Good luck with getting rid of Johnson.

Breaking News- Swansong says ‘No’.

I wonder if Boris will push for a vote of no confidence to force an election

As it stands geo,he doesn’t need to do anything.Even if he resigned there would be a new Conservative Prime Minister, eventually,as they are the sitting Government.Corbyn will never be voted for as a caretaker PM.Who else would be ?Then we can all slate the people who agree with it as only 650 people are voting.

Whitsun 23 May 2019 4 June 2019

If there was/is such a national crisis shouldn't these parliamentery recesses have been cancelled?...... or at least one of them?..... or a one line bill and vote?

Of course they should have been reduced, the EU gave us extra time to sort ourselves out. Seems we need more still.

Now your losing me mate.....

1st round

Team a 1 - 0 Team b

2nd round

Team a 0 - 0 Team b

Who wins?.... Team b because Team a didn't win both legs?..... even with my limited knowledge of football that sounds a little biased.

Just imagine all those happy accepting voices if Team a was Vale and Team b was stoke.

Losing myself, but in the first leg Team a played an illegal player so the tie awarded to  Team b, should not mix sport and politics

I think there were 2 fatal flaws in the referendum.....

1 remain were confident they would stroll through it and didn't consider the consequences of losing.... as a side note I'm not convinced leave thought they would win.

2 it didn't create a winner, it created a winner and a loser with very little to differentiate.

The consequence is that whether we leave or remain 50% of the voters will be ignored.
