Maybe it’s cuz I have so many fond memories of rudge in his flat cap that I still hold out hope that he will one day get back involved , although time is running out , but surely smurf must know that bringing him back would be s good move

Age is not the key here, Horton is 68 and he has been linked and put forward as a Manager. Rudge may just be ideal to advise Aspin in the next few months. He has seen the club at a low point and although that was a while back, he will know how players feel, when they have no confidence or lack of motivation.

Whatever the arrangements at Gateshead, if Aspo is appointed he has to have his own backroom staff. Can you imagine what it would be like for him if he had to stick with Morgan and Kelly? We all know what happened with Sinnott. It's the whole nine yards or nowt.

I always wondered if Sinnott would have been any good if Grew and Glover were not undermining him at every turn. Steve Josbury seemed to locate a few good players for him. But he had no chance with all the back stabbing
