group of vale fans hurling abuse at each other behind the hamil end. copper jumps over wall and told them to move on. he singled out the bloke he ended up arresting. was a little over the top the way the coppers handled the situation , they should have just put the away fans on the bus.

I can not speak for all of them but the guy I saw get attacked was doing nothing wrong at the time of being arrested. What happened before I can not say but the officer was saying to him move on which he was. Then he suddernly changed his mind and then one of the stewards jumped in and assualted him (the guy).

 

Most of the time its banta between fans the police jump in and it all kicks off. The stewards are normally better natured because they do not hide behind batons and arrests. I have seen what could have been a riot turned into laughing and joking because the stewards know how to calm a situation

I was the lad who got arrested, but I am glad people witnessed

what happened. They were initially trying to charge me with assault.

But as somebody mentioned Joan Whalley was there and the steward soon changed his mind after he realised that a few people had seen what occurred.

i cant stand the police they always seem to cause problems but weneva sumat happens and u need them to help they do f*** all...maybe thats y the government are cuttin all the police forces cus they ave realised that the police r useless :D

I think the police generally do a very good job, in incredibly difficult circumstances

same old same old the old bill love a bit of action and will go out of there way to get some , never take the sensible option but love to go in heavy handed and usually make matters far worse , ive been going vale over fourty years and some of the worst violence that i have witnessed has come from the old bill , i would go as far to say that we have got some of the most heavy handed coppers around.

There are some idiots in the police force, but there are also as many if not more idiots who go to the Vale to cause trouble.....or who think it's ok to do things that are illegal, because they can get away with it......

 

I worry about this place and for our society when you get stupid comments like that.......

I got in trouble with the police once at Blackpool away - in hindsight it was totally my fault and I got what I deserved (thankfully nothing more than a ticking off)

I can remember having very "sensible" chats with the local police at West Ham - when they warned us of the WH idiots around the corner, and told us the safest way back to the car, or at Bolton, where one of them told me the Sheff Utd score (showing my age here), commented on my car (a Lada estate) and failed to spot the out-of-date tax disc.....plus a police motorbike escort to St James's Park because I was taking a wheelchair user to the game....

 

On the other hand, the total idiots at Sunderland who ( with the same wheelchair user) made us go miles out of our way to get to Joker Park because "we were away fans" and the generally humourless ones in the West Midlands.........

 

If you're not after causing or getting involved in bother, they tend to not bother you, unless they are one of the "wrong un's"

From my experience most of the police in this country will be fine with you as long as you;

 

a) don't take the p*ss out of them. Most are up for a bit of banter - they are human beings after all - as long as you don't give them "attitude"

b) do what they ask. If they ask you to cross the road, just bladdy do it !

 

The only time I've known this to go completely out of the window are when the Manchester Met have been involved
