We haven't regressed that far, the game has changed. You're right that we won;t see times like the mid 90's again though, financially we're too far behind

I was lucky enough to see Steve Guppy's debut. With all due respect to John Jeffers, it was a revelation to see someone surging forward and pinging those crosses in.

Great stuff, at the time you think the days will never end and how high can we go. I remember standing waiting for a train at Villa Park in 54, ah well there is always another year, not quite but some great cup wins since.

To be fair, despite that good debut, I think he was inconsistent to start with. It's understandable as he's moving to a new team, new style of play, new area of the country, new division etc...

 

But once he found his form and got used to the team, other players... then what a winger! Definitely the best Vale player on the left flank that I've ever seen.

Best player I've seen at Vale comfortably. His wing play and crossing was a joy to behold. It was tailor made for the likes of Foyle, Naylor and Mills! Happy Days!

I thought he lacked a bit of consistency at the start SV.The rest ,as they say,is history.Can't think of a better winger who has played for us.
