My situation

I have a very difficult situation coming up , two of my grandchildren both boys aged 11 and 13 who i take to the Vale when ever i have them and Vale play have both been here for Sunday lunch today and have been begging me to take them go watch Stoke in the European games !

At first i thought they may be kidding around but no , when i asked why they wanted go see Stoke play their reply was '' They are good and Vale are naff '' , i could not really give an argument to that but after 30 minutes of me trying talk them out of it they still want to go and have their hearts set on it.

I fear the lads are going stop going the Vale and start going Stoke from now on and their friends all follow Stoke.

I fear Vale will be losing future fans because of Stoke's recent success and Vales lack of it.

WHAT DO I DO !?

Im all for SEO, but thats one step too far. I'd rather you bought the missing 1000 season tickets than to take them to see stoke. Do that sir, and you will be a traitor to the cause and banished from Burslem!

Don't take them - if they want to go they will have to make their own way with their friends.

My younger brother was the same. Took him to a few home and away games, even had a Vale shirt at some point. But he goes school in a major Stokie area (Thistley hough) and because pretty much all of his mates are, coupled with the fact they're better than us, he's started going to see them. Now a ST holder. Scummer lol.

It's a tough one.

Tell them that Vale is in their blood. It passes on from generation to genaration. If they're wise, they can save money when they're older going Vale than spending silly Premiership prices.

You could do with picking a game where you know Vale are gonna turn up and play, and the atmosphere would be great, like Shrewsbury at home last year, and taking them, and showing them how good it can be at VP..
