I think people are getting a little over excited with Ben Williamson.

Odd senario with the Hyde connection, especially when you consider that Williamson admitted he'd only been "up north" once before in his life prior to joining Vale. Must be to tick some regulationary boxes. I'm sure Hyde don't mind too much though if they're getting some cash out of it. They were in dire straights until Man C put some cash into them which resulted in the complete re-branding of the club.

 

Was quite impressed by him at Stafford on Saturday. Applied himself well, as did the rest of the new boys. I far more energetic pre-season friendly than I can remember from recent years. I reckon he'll be able to do a job at our level, especially considering he was pushing for starts and scoring goals at the top of League 1 last season.

anthony malbon and jo cardle have looked good in pre season friendlies before so i will reserve judgement on him untill he has played a few league games for us, but i suppose it is a decent start.

I thought Williamson was registered with Bournemouth and Burge was with Doncaster Rovers? I dunner understand the Hyde connection at all!!

 

hyde are the feeder club to hoddles academy both players went out on loan to bournemouth and doncaster but after had to go back to hyde.

Very impressed with Williamson yesterday good pace and his movement excellent. Green could motor down the left, and Sam played well......Overall as said in another thread Vale could easilly have been 5-0 up at H.T. except for the heroics of Castle's new keeper Jon Ritchie.

my understanding is that Hoddle's academy in Spain has fallen out with the local 'council' and has had to be shut down. He has transferred all of his player registrations to Hyde, hence the link. He's looking to move all his Academy activities to the UK now, probably in partnership with Hyde.
