I don't know a great deal about this lad. Is he a number "9" or number "10" in new money?

 

Think he got 20 in 29 last year for Havant.

 

Reckon he fancies himself as the main striker.

Great signing , good work page and smurf. 20 in 27 was it last season. Exciting times.

 

When was the last time we signed 5 quality youngsters pre season?

 

20 in 29 so still excellent.

7 in 11 the year before as well.

 

This could be the best signing yet.

From the football detectives and news hounds on OVF it's all cloak and dagger with the mystery striker holed up in nearby Hotel prior to signing and the big reveal.....probably to be actioned after training......Smurf directing said shenanigans from top secret licensed establishment with a stroke of a white cat and permanent ink.....whether any significance can be taken from the accompanying Newcastle Brown and bag of Hoola-Hoops is yet to be seen.

But I think the words "happening today" makes it sound conclusive - it's going to happen wheras "new striker today?" sound less conclusive - more of a question.

 

I also apologise for going massively off topic but as someone who writes hundreds of headlines for OVF articles, I'm fascinated by how you can convey a message as succinctly as possible. Sometimes I spend longer over the headline than the article itself, so it's a pet topic of mine...

Great signing, good potential! Seems pacey and powerful, hopefully we can polish him up into a diamond!

 

Any news on the contract length?

It looks like Vale are continuing down the line of trying to get players they can develop and perhaps sell on (so a marked change from the Adams years). So, we've got the likes of Streete, Kelly, Andoh and now Hooper who are all new to League One and (should the new coaching team be up to it) can hopefully developed into good players.

 

I guess the same could happen with the goalkeepers if the GK coach is a good 'un - Alnwick, Boot and the much-maligned Johnson all have time on their side to get better IMO.

 

I must say, I do like the idea of bringing in a non-league striker in the hope of discovering a hidden gem. Reminds me of the Rudge days of bringing in "chancer" players like Andy Jones etc. It may not always work out but it's worth a try.

On paper looks a great signing if he can stay fit as he has had his problems. Hopefully the final piece in the jigsaw this as I'm sure if we can find a goalscorer this team can do very well.

I know anyone can look good on a YouTube highlight reel, but I enjoyed the variety of goals scored by Hooper. Inside the box, outside the box, headers, free kicks, one on ones, left foot, right foot. Looks like there is a lot of attributes to work with.
