He will be a massive step in the right direction. He can defend, whereas one or two of the others cannot. He knows what to expect here from Page, his team mates and the fans. I'm sure RP and NS will be delighted if he joins, as will I.

He seemed to step up to the plate when he played, appears to be a natural leader and a good talent. If he brings these attributes again it can only be a positive start to the summers dealings in my opinion.

He's on a learning curve and can hopefully build on last season and adopt a calmer approach as he develops. He should slowly improve with experience. Page was a big stopper so perhaps he can give him a bit more advice as well.

 

I'd be pleased to get him back and I thought he might be offered to Championship clubs.

 

Clearly he enjoyed his time here and NS is trying his best to get him to return which is good.

He wasn't afraid to give as good as he got. It's a physical league and plenty of strikers will try to bully what they see as a young, inexperienced defender. When he stood up for himself he got dragged into a bit of silliness by strikers who had a bit more experience and knew how to get him into the book and walking a tightrope.

 

The Doncaster yellow card was because one of their strikers involved him in some nonsense off the ball. The Notts County thing was a brawl after someone left his studs on Chris Neal - I think the ref was picking Vale players to book at random that day.

Just watch Ryan on corners next year if we sign him. He just watched his man and made dam sure his man didn't win the ball. So confident. He took his man out mentaly. His confidence was immense. Mind you , if you were 6.5ft and as good looking as ryan you would be super confident too!!!
