Don't let facts get in way of media fairytale, then.

Good luck to them, but the media making out small club rises through the leagues etc, they spent 500k when in league 1 on a single player, not sure vale have spent 500k in last 10 years on players fees

My point is that a number of people on this forum, yourself included, have constantly said that certain players in our squad are rubbish. Of those in your list Dickinson was considered unfit to wear the shirt for much of the season. Dodds would never be a League One footballer. Veseli was a hopeless fullback. Neal was a dreadful keeper (FBS). Brown was too old. Pope was only good in League Two. I could go on.

My point is that folk on here - myself included - would have no idea at all how to manage a professional football club but seem to think it's fine to tell the bloke in the job that he's useless. I had it all the time in my working life - everyone has been in a classroom so they all think they know how to do a teacher's job. Everyone on here has been to a match so they all think they know how to manage the team. We don't. We can express our opinions of course but quite frankly, put anyone off this message board in charge of Vale and we would be relegated before Christmas - or probably November in my case!

In much the same way everyone is better than a referee! ;)

Perhaps now is the time to start if Norman has the finance to get us into Championship.

I think Norman probably has the money to finance the championship, let's just say Bournemouth had been successful in there bid in January of 5 million for the lad from Birmingham, not been promoted and the owner pulled the plug? Another Portsmouth in the making, I have been critical of the signings made by smurf, but if he pulled the plug would we be another Portsmouth?

Nothing to do with crowds, a snippet about Bournemouth and look at there poor crowds

The club lost £15.3m in the financial year ending July 2013 and in total, their net debt is just over £15.5m. They only just passed Financial Fair Play regulations earlier this season.

Bournemouth have poor crowds? They get as many as you can fit in the ground.:laugh:

Which factually are still poor and not viable in the top flight 

An average of just over 5 thousand before this season, Wigan bigger club

True....and Bournemouth had to be bankrolled by their owner to get into the Prem. Probably hoping to 'speculate to accumulate' but, as we've seen at VP, it doesn't always work. I'm sure the parachute payment will come in handy when they're dumped out next season.

This is the eternal dilemma - do we do the same, bearing in mind it hasn't worked before, or do we stay within a budget and live within our means? At least the latter means we still have a Vale to watch.

Look at Portsmouth and make your own mind up

I'm afraid that both Wigan and now Bournemouth have proved that the size of the crowds are not really important today. It's simply down to how much the owner can afford and is prepared to throw at getting his club into the Premiership.
