Liverpool rob dogs

Oh look, another criticise Liverpool thread. Like they're the first and only team that have charged over the top prices.

The way I see it is that on the whole attending football games at any level is over-priced. I paid £20 to get in to watch Vale in League Two where the quality was mostly just above Sunday league, so in comparison paying double to see world-class talents like Coutinho and Sturridge etc isn't that ridiculous.

I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right, but let's not pretend that watching our beloved Vale (I've been going games home and away every season since I was about 6 before anyone starts) is by any means cheap for the quality that's usually on offer.

I think the point is that teams like Vale need to charge the prices they do to make ends meet. I'd wager that about 10% (if that) of Liverpools income comes from ticket sales so why the need to be greedy?

Oh and since when were Sturridge & Coutinho world class players?

That's a load of cobblers, Beechy. There is no guarantee of quality with Premier League games as you well know. I paid a wedge to watch Newcastle v Manure from the posh seats last week and I saw a better match at the Ricoh on Saturday. And Coutinho World Class? He wasn't even in the Brazil World Cup squad let along their team.

Vale charge the going rate for League One football. Liverpool are charging well in excess of the going rate for a midweek game against a mid table team which is live on telly. It's iniquitous. Most teams reduce prices for games like this, not increase them. Why are Newcastle fans being charged seven quid more for a night game on telly than the mackems paid for a Saturday afternoon match?

Interestingly, Newcastle fans are paying £20 a ticket for their away match on the other side of Stanley Park this Sunday. That's thanks to a reciprocal agreement between the clubs to charge this for the away fans at each of their games.

That sounds like a way forward

Yep, Stoke and Newcastle did the same....

Newcastle have made the same arrangement with a number of clubs and the club subsidised the away tickets by a tenner at Spuds. That is how they are using the away fans grant which Stoke use for free travel.

Jean, I get criticised for being delighted when English teams get knocked out of Europe like Chelsea tonight. But it's only when advertisers stop paying Sky high prices because the audiences are low will Sky stop domination of the game which will lower player financial expectations and that will finally bring common sense to admission prices.

I know it's a forlorn hope but if it doesn't happen then I don't see a long term future for the pyramid structure that currently exists.

Wasn't it Liverpool fans who did a banner when they played Man City a couple of years back because they were saying (moaning) £50 is too much?

They were right, £50 is too much. But Liverpool fans can't complain when someone complains about Liverpool doing the exact same thing.
