Hereford Utd are wound-up

It was their tenth court visit today and it looks like the judge finally ran out of patience. Hereford Utd are no more. The company is being wound-up.

In many ways, it's a bitter sweet day for their fans as they felt the only way the club could continue was to be dissolved and reform as a phoenix club.

But it's been an awful 2014 for them and now it looks like the fans will have to stand up and be counted and start a phoenix club in the depths of the non-league.

I have great sympathy for the fans of Hereford as it seems that once more a club has suffered really badly through poor governance. We should really examine the part that the FA and the government have played in allowing this to happen. It is not only in football that businesses are closed down because they fall into wrong hands. The whole system of ownership in this country needs re-examination and reform.

Yeah...a sad day indeed. A proud club with a proud heritage is no more. And all for probably no more than the equivalent of a few weeks Premier League players wages. You have to feel for the fans who clearly deserved better. I agree with Yukon, we were fortunate that Bob Young, among others, helped us out on 2 occasions. Good luck to the group who oversee their re-invention as a going concern.

Well apparently it was 116k, which is 2 and half days of Rooney's wage

Nope, I think it was more like 150k to HMRC alone - but probably around 750k in total. The owners had promised to pay since June, through ten court visits - so clearly they were never going to pay it and the judge had enough. The owners made MOLD look like stand-up citizens - yes, they were that bad!

Phoenix club Rob? I hope Brian Potter isn't the new owner.;)Good luck to the new club if it happens.

They shouldn't have been given so many chances!

I agree. The owners were clearly there to redevelop the ground and had no interest in the football club. The judge shouldn't have believed their excuses.

The hope now is that fans (who do care about the club) will be able to secure the lease to the ground (the council appear favourable) and re-start the club.

Let's hope so, and that AFC Hereford or whatever they are called can follow in the steps of Newport and Wimbledon, just a shame that they couldn't have started on the journey back this season.

Lets hope thats got rid of the low lives ,shysters, crooks, bent so called businessmen and associated toe rags and reform next season as a phoenix club, the council and the local mp all seem in favour of that scenario and although the FA are unusually quiet i can't see them turning down herefords desire to reform and start at the bottom of the pyramid.
