I take my hat off to those going. It is probably be more in hope than expectation? Birchall would add solidity to the right hand side, but Moore deserves a chance. Dodds has the abilty to pass to a player in the same strip. Another defeat and we'll be saying "come back Griff ".

The day is great anyway if only for the real ale in a proper pub, Palmerston Arms.:drink:

If we defend how we have been doing, and continue with the lump ball we have been playing, this is a nailed on defeat im afraid. We simply just cant expect to score 3 or 4 goals a game in this league to get any points which what we are having to do at the moment.

We need to stop the dozyness and lethargy just after half time as well. Been a trait of ours for a couple of years now and it needs sorting as it ecourages the the other team and invites pressure hence our terrible 2nd half record recently. I ve seen some teams doing a little drill before kick off to wake themselves up again after H/T. I think we need to try this.

We also need to pass it WAY better than we have been doing, give each other options out there. Also need to sharpen up the basics like controlling the flippin ball and stop constantly making silly basic errors (slicing it out of play when under absolutley no pressure, poor communication at the back, taking to long to find a pass a dawdling on it and giving the opposition chance to regain their shape and mark up, giving needless corners away etc) Also, all the teams ive seen us play this season have been better on the ball than us. Were just not keeping possesion long enough and just chasing the other team all the time which is probably why we looked tired at the end of cfield game. We must start making teams chase us instead.

Id go 4-5-1 in this game to give a bit more of a solid base as the 4-4-2 we deployed so for just hasn't worked.

Surely we cant play as bad as we did in the last two home games. I know its early but we could do with at least a point put of this as we are in danger of falling behind.

They owe us a decent performance today.

Blimey! I was looking forward to today when I got up but your truthful post has depressed me! You are dead right of course, but yes I agree they owe us one today and I'm optimistic about bringing at least 1 point home. Come on Vale.

It's about time we changed our old fashioned 442. As long as it's also a tactics change then it looks good to me. Last thing we need is Robertson lumping it to Pope when we have quick skillful wingers in the team. I'd have kept Duffy though but it may shake them up.

Come on vale
