Not a chance we should go near Ranger. I don't care how talented he is, he's a nasty piece of work that keeps reoffending and keeps throwing the good will of others back in their face.

 

As much as I hated what Hughes did, at least he was remorseful and tried to make amends.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't personally want him or for that matter Piers Morgan at the club but I don't know where the right/wrong line is in this debate if people who kill others are accepted and scrotes of poor character aren't.

As football philosopher (in his own mind) Joey Barton once said "football is a game of opinions" and I guess that is why.

 

I think people would like Vale to be liked by the wider football world and that is why anyone controversial/unpopular always splits opinion.

 

However, if that person plays well (as Hughes did) it makes it easier to push any controversy to one side. I guess that is why Hughes was liked - his terrible indiscretion was in the past, he showed remorse, was a lovely fella off the pitch and performed for us.

 

The worry would be that Ranger, on the other hand, is so mucked up that he's such a problem off the pitch that at this rate, he won't have any chance to cancel any concerns out with good performances on the pitch.

Reda Johnson would be awesome but I'd have thought there was more chance of Eugenie Bouchard being in my bed when I get home from work!

 

Having said that Wednesday did release him and struggled in the championship last season which is only 1 level above us!
