Why we buy foreign players.

More nonsense, you said we develop players. We dont.

The Port Vale approach is to sign players, the Crewe approach to develop young players and retain for self. Not showing any difference in success. In the end England failed, but it has nothing to do with the Premier League. We are far stronger than Costa Rica player for player and simply failed to perform.

In terms of league position I guess you could say there is not much difference between Vale and Crewe but in terms of success there model is massively successful even if you are only looking at the standard of the academy and the players it has produced. The cash this has generated for the club has in some respects been a lifeline and given the club a reputation that means parents choose Crewe's academy over premier league clubs.

Are you on some form of medication? Wtf has that got to do with your comment that the premier league develops the world cup talent?

So why are England picking reserve goalies? What has happened to Man Utd conveyor belt of youth? Why are the other home nations having to pick more players from the lower leagues?

The FA out sourced the development of the national team and it has failed. In fact it has failed 4 national football teams.

Do you get bored of posting complete nonsense?

We havent developed any of them, they were all developed abroad and just signed by rich people over here. For example vermalen, vertonghen came from Dutch sides youth setups, hazard France, mirallas Greek, zabaleta and courtouis Spain and kompany German and if your classing demechilis as a premier league player you are even more stupid than your posts suguest

The chemist is still open..they probably have something that will treat verbal diaorrhea....even such a terrible case ;)

The PL is very very good at developing players..just look at the numbers who come here and then achieve huge moves..everyone from Suarez to Bale. We as in the PL help to make other nation's player's better..at the expense of our own

Bale went to a bigger club, that is the way things are, and Real Madrid paid the best price so that Spurs could sign several replacement players and preserve their level. Players come and go, that is the way it is and the Premier League is currently the second strongest in the world after La Liga.

Agreed..my point was it was the PL that developed Bale and it has done that with a lot of non-English players..so you are right that the PL is very good at developing players..just not young English players

Amen to that, it's a far cry from the top leagues in Spain, Germany, Holland, Belgium and even Scotland for that!

Doesn't the PL have the lowest % of home nationals playing in it? That must be linked to the mess our young player development is in, from 17/18 upwards there is a massive black hole.

An important point to consider is that England, a nation of ca 50m people, cannot produce as many top quality footballers as the rest of the world combined, population ca 6-7 billion. Hence there will always be a huge number of players at least as good if not better than our own wishing and willing to play football in England given the wages English clubs pay at all levels.

IMHO, football in the UK has to be made a special case under labour laws to limit players not qualified to play for UK countries or a rigorous quota system introduced 'cause if not, not only will the Premier league and academies be devoid of English talent but British players will become a minority in teams at all levels of professional football.

Aren't there already "home grown player" rules? But they are a bit odd in the definition of home grown? http://www.epfl-europeanleagues.com/quota_for_Premier_League.htm Even if it does help it will take a few years yet

But yes a quota system would be ideal and as long as we coach kids properly then clubs will not suffer as surely the talent is out there just like any other country? It is perhaps the lack of quality coaching of a our young kids that means clubs are reluctant to take a chance on them
