Got criticised for saying similar for the past two years. He's fast, but that's not enough, as we'd just have to sign a sprinter if that was the case. He hasn't got a footballing brain. Another player vastly overrated by many, who talk about potential while forgetting he is over 25. We aren't going down this season, so I'd blood hugill a bit more and see if he's got what it takes. I still think we underused Hughes while sticking with Williamson so much.

 

I've been a big fan of Willow in the last few years, but I think you're right in your comments. However, I don't think Hugill is the answer either. Seems like we have a glut of fringe strikers who don't know where the net is - really useful.

He's no worse than Tomlin. Pope has also been poor this season on the whole, though we all know that without decent service he's a very limited player. Myrie-Williams and co haven't done this anything like enough in League One.

Yeah, he's probably marginally better in all fairness, but is still not the answer. We have too many players in the squad that belong in League Two, and a few (who I won't bother to name) who are lucky to be even playing football above the Conference.

He may have had big wages but even at his age he was our best forward, not only that but he was one of the few leaders on the pitch that we have. Surely there were other players that could have been let go to bring in the likes of Grimmer? Rob Taylor has been stealing a living at the club for years.

Getting a winning goal doesn't mean that he's warranted a contract at this club for all this time.

 

I'm not trying to pick on him, I could say the same about Louis Dodds who time and time again flattens to deceive, but Lee Hughes should still be in our starting 11 in my opinion. (Though obviously he's perhaps unable to play 2 games in the space of a week)
