Having just watched the goals of Saturdays matches on the telly I have only one thing to say about Crewe Match -

SOS

Shoot on Sight - go and look at the 3 goals they conceded - 3 shots from outside the box and the keeper no where near any of em.

Ok - it was Brentford - but come on just look at the goals - If we dont have 10-15 shots at goal against Crewe the Vale players want shooting.

Crewe are not the OLD Dario team that play football in a well respected manner any more - they are 5th bottom of the league, and they are there for a reason ...... Their goal difference is MINUS 26 ! Score against them and they don't normally come back.

We should have done that on Saturday against a side lower than Crewe. Instead we turned out a toothless snorefest.

We have to turn up.

Spot on !!!!I have noticed that the ball used this season moves considerably when hit hard from distance. We have fallen victim to this movement a few times,MK Dons to name one incident!Vale have lacked the creativity in midfield to allow someone to smash the ball, on target, from distance. We must try to give it a go on Saturday, as Crewe are weak defending!!!Just food for thought.

After the disappointing performance and result last night this would be the team to face Crewe for me:

Neal

Yates Grimmer Davis Dickinson

JMW Lines Griff Loft

Dodds

Pope

Id like to fit Shuker in there somewhere if possible but it looks like the knees are a real problem for him which is a petty because he's been a very underrated player for us especially when he helped us to the top of the league last season. Jones needs a rest like many others not sure if he wants it enough or whether he just isn't fit, or both. Dodds is an enigma yes but when he played behind Pope last season was when we saw the best of him in a Vale shirt and its worth a try as the other three forwards aren't pulling up any trees when starting.

2 - 0 Vale if we play this team.

Neal

Duffy Grimmer Davis Dickinson

Loft Lines Knott JMW

Pope Hugill

Duffy is back from injury and after Yatesy's mare on Tuesday I'd rather have Duffy at RB who was in good form at CB before his injury in the Plymouth game. Taylor is also back and had a good game in the reverse fixture so that's a position for Adams to mull over, unless he starts with Loft in CM in place of Knott and has Taylor LM.

Taylor and JMW on the flanks would certainly provide the wingers we need to actually get the the ball within 20 yards of the oppositions penalty area. Crewe have shipped 60 goals or something this season, it is to much to ask for us to have a go at them from the off?

Duffy at centre back or not at all for me. I cannot remember his last good game at right back. One way round it is play Grimmer right back and Duffy centre half. I'd keep the back 4 the same though, bring in JMW for Jones and Hugill in for Williamson.

Agreed on the back 4, why change it? not until Duffy is match fit again anyways.

I also have a funny feeling we will see Louis Dodds ons Saturday, he seems to be adams go-to when we're running out of ideas, then he has a stinker and dropped again. Id bring JMW in for Jones and Tomlin in for Williamson.
