Classic team talk from Micky in front of the Daily Mail reporter.

'Do you know what he's here for?,he's here to see us fall flat on our faces.' At least one reddens at this point. Mine.

'Do you know what? Don't give him the satisfaction.Them on the telly, don't give them the satisfaction, either.

'If there's a tackle to be won,win it.If there's a scrap to be had,have it.Respect?Show them none.

'F*** him. (Points at yours truly) f*** the television viewers. F*** all of them.'

Give him a new contract now Smurf.

I bet every club wishes they had supporters with your opinions.

You'd have preferred the exciting 4-4 draw at Canvey Island no doubt, streaker and all. Trouble is we didn't make the next round after all the inspiring and luster-ing (yes, I know there is no such word). Perhaps you should support Swindon, they scored five against us, but oh... what happened when THEY played non-league opposition away in the Cup this weekend ?

In the light of day we,'ve beat a team in the 8th tier of football.

The result was welcome but I'd be worried if you were impressed with anything else.

I was impressed with the approach. The professional way that Micky Adams got worked up enough to get them to 'effing do what you are paid for' and the way that they didn't think that they had a God-given right to win because the opposition were so far below us in status. There was no scope in a match like this to be impressed with much else, but don't underestimate how important approach is.

It meant that there was no chance of another horror like Enfield, Canvey, Scarboro, Chasetown or Grimsby or even near-disgrace like Ford United - all of which are horrific scars on the magnificent FA Cup history of Port Vale FC.

There may not have been many moments of magic - but they can come later when we lose 4-3 in a replay to Manchester United but score a great 35-yard goal. Tonight was purely and simply about being man enough to do a shytty job for which there was never going to be any credit from some fans, even 4-0 away brings disparaging remarks.

As I said before, look at Swindon - why not log into their fans site and see what they think of their team LOSING 4-0 to a non-league outfit. It might change your perspective.

Thats quality

I liked this bit as well.

'And by the way, too much noise on the bus,' he says,'if you were playing Manchester United I wouldn't hear a peep out of you.

'You'd be focusing.Well,I've got news for you,as far as you lot are concerned, this is Manchester United.

'One year from now,I don't want this to be spoken about and remembered by Vale fans as another Chasetown, another Canvey Island.'

Well said Micky.

Enjoyed watching this in the USA--first time I've seen the lads play in a while.

Yeah, Shortwood didn't impress much, but as Micky said you win, people forget about it, you lose, they'll remember it for years. We didn't give 'em anything to remember.

Lines and Chilvers impressed me especially.

Salisbury will be tougher but hopefully there will be a plum 3rd round tie out of it.

Well done lads.

Did Jenno have a better game because as was pointed out he was playing on his more natural left wing???

Change the record. It's not his natural wing. He's played the vast majority of his career on the right wing and had numerous good games. To say that a left footer has to play on the left wing are dinosaur tactics straight out of a Mike Bassett beginners guide to tactics book.
