Alex: Cancer almost gone

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Once again, my thanks to every, single person on this website who donated money to Alex's appeal. I know there were collections on coaches, online and lots of other things (including our fabulous chairman's fundraising fancy dress at Wycombe). Thank you for donating and thank you for caring.

For those that aren't aware of what I'm talking about - Alex's family live about a mile or so from my home in Aylesbury. His plight touched all of us in the town and for a period last year the whole of Aylesbury was united in fundraising efforts. I decided to publicise Alex's appeal to raise money for lifesaving cancer treatment on OVF. It received a tremendous response and I'm pleased to issue this update from my local paper:

Alex Novakovic’s brain tumour is ‘98% gone’, his latest scan has revealed.

The seven-year-old Bedgrove boy’s family have expressed their relief at the news, which comes after he spent time in Boston, USA, having special therapy thanks to unprecedented fundraising efforts.

Alex’s mother, Jasmin, said everything is looking ‘very positive’.

She said: “It’s absolutely fantastic news.

“It’s a huge relief. I slept very well last night for the first time in a couple of weeks.

“I feel like I’m living from scan to scan at the moment.

“It’s the best news we could have had and we have got our fingers crossed for more positive results.”

Alex’s MRI results will be sent to America for his Boston doctors to look at and he will have another scan in about eight weeks.

While he is still having some treatment in the UK and is unlikely to be given the all clear for some time, everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

Alex’s uncle, Daniel O’Brien, said: “The tumour has reduced to practically nothing. The immediate threat has gone, which is amazing given the 0% chance he was given at the beginning.”
