  1. Oh come on, that's very harsh. We all know James Wilson is a quality player when fully fit, his ability has never been in doubt. His problem is that he isn't fully fit very often and if he was he would be playing higher than League 1.
  2. I know that Kyle Perry took a pay cut to sign for Vale from Chasetown.
  3. Can see it more of a 4-4-1-1 myself. Sang and Shorrock as full backs, Massey and Plant as wingers. Ojo sits in, Garrity and Chislett alternate to support Loft. Or maybe it's a front 3 with Massey, Loft or Chislett. Christ knows really. The inclusion of Shorrock has thrown me. Is it to get Plant further forward? Guess we'll find out.
  4. Ah yes, the famous Wigan kebab. For when a pie just doesn't have enough carbs for you. Nice though, although the key is plenty of butter on the barm (that's a bap to me and you)
  5. Christ, out of the frying pan and into the fire
  6. Glad they are upgrading. There are some real dodgy patches.
  7. By the way, are Portly still playing, Would love to get involved. Been playing 3 times a week since I've lost a shitload of weight. Be nice to get back into 11 a side.
  8. Nah it was always 3 at the back. When Sang came on Planty went across to the left and Sang was very much right wing back- in fact given how dominant we were in the last 30 minutes he was essentially a winger. Thought the back 3 were superb, particularly Nathan Smith- proper captain's performance. Yak and Debrah also were superb. In fact, with the possible exception of Grant I thought every player was at least 8/10. Superb, battling performance in difficult conditions on a beach of a pitch. The performance that weve been crying out for for months and a bit of renewed hope. Easter weekend is now massive.
  9. Give your head a wobble ya pillock
  10. And gave us a truly memorable moment in the process with Eagles' last minute screamer at Walsall to take it to the last day. In fact, once fit Chris Eagles nearly kept us up single handedlu that year.
  11. What about a ramekin of chopped luncheon meat with a toasted breadcrumb, lemon and cottage cheese crust, topped with bacon and beef jerky followed by custard flavoured ice cream with peanut butter swirls drizzled with kumquat coulis?
  12. I think the problems of this season began way back in the January transfer window of last season. Been a downward spiral ever since.
  13. Apathy stems from the fact that deep down we know what's gonna happen before we've even kicked off. The only variable is how long it takes.
  14. No wife wants someone that limp in the tackle!
  15. Probably how Connor Ripley feels playing behind this defense
  16. Yes but u missed the part where is said reports directly to Darren Moore who must have the final say. The whole structure needs ripping up and starting again.
  17. Our promotion happened a year too soon, didnt allow us to consolidate properly and it has continued to hamper us into this season. If we go down which is looking likely I think we will bounce back quickly and then have a better chance at consolidation in League 1. I do however think that the rebuilding process cannot be allowed to be run by David Flitcroft and in all honesty, i dont think should be done by a director of football at all. Darren Moore has a better CV and better contacts than Flitcroft for a start so Flitcroft's position is not only untenable but also completely redundant. What i would like to see in place is a return to the chief scout role, someone who can oversea the scouting network and report directly to Darren Moore.
  18. Well if we weren't doing things to attract that next generation of fans with all the other options around these days then there definitely won't be people coming on match days in the future. Also, don't forget that Vale Park has basically had no investment of any note in 20 years. We're also ignoring the unforseen and unprecedented impact of Covid where the Shanahans basically had to spend a lot of money just to see the club continue to exist at all. The thought of what would have happened had the lock down season happened on Norman's watch is truly frightenting. I agree the balance hasn't been 100% right and I think the director of football was always a role too far and is a failed experiment for me now but I totally get why such off field investments had to be made.
  19. I'm saying that we have to spend money to make money and ultimately become self-sustainable or as close as possible so that we dont end up in the state we were under Norman where our ground was held together with soft bog roll and sticky tape. Again- it isnt going to happen over night but it certainly will never happen without investment. That is just one example of where money has been spent to provide a new money earning facility- the new scoreboard is another, the business centre in the Lorne Street is another, the increased investment in the range sold in the club shop is another, the fanzone is yet another, the improved marketing is another and even the increased community work has seen a massive rise in the number of families with young children- they are the new generation of fans that are more important than ever what with the availability of so much live football on TV. Maybe there's an argument that your first class degree in economics which you were very quick to use as a virtue-signaling device has made you know the price of everything but the value of nothing.
  20. I think the absolute pits for me was Dean Glovers team. Midfield pairing of Neil McKenzie and Ross Davidson with Klye Perry and Danny Glover up front, Chris Slater at the back. We were so lucky that season as it was only Luton starting on -30. Rotherham and Bournemouth on -17 and Chester being truly horrific that kept us up.
  21. Are you seriously that dim? We had one suite that had private functions throughout the summer months. We now have 2 doing the same. 1+1=2. 2 is twice the amount of 1. The fact I have to explain how doubling our capacity to host summer events gives us double the money making capability for those events is mind boggling. I shouldn't have to add but will just to clarify that the revenue won't be recouped overnight as you seen to expect.
  22. Spot on for me. I would add that its difficult to tell whether Ojo has downed tools or is still carrying that injury and is playing at about 50% or even whether the fact he has poorer players in midfield with him is making it difficult to get his game going. Possibly a combination of the last 2 with a bit of frustration and disillusion thrown in. A good summer and pre season could resolve all 3 issues perhaps and his poor form since Christmas may actually work in our favour long term as no-one in League 1 is likely to be interested.
