  1. He’s in a no-win situation. The squad is completely and utterly useless. I repeat… THIS SQUAD WOULD GET RELEGATED WITH PEP GUARDIOLA IN CHARGE. We have players who, physically, aren’t up to the challenge of 2 games in a week. We have players who have downed tools because they know they will be gone in the summer (note “the injuries”) We have players who are being asked to play out of position because we literally have no-one for that position. We have players who, quite frankly, are not good enough. The squad is an absolute mess from top to bottom. Jackson Pollock has nothing on Flitcroft. Moore has little option but to play the nicey-nicey cliched interview card. We still have a mathematical chance of avoiding the drop so doesn’t want to completely alienate the players. Whilst the reality is that we were as good as relegated on 2 February, fans need some hope to cling to for next year, at least show some fight. What would you do?? Publicly criticise the team and owners?? Maybe if he wanted an early pay-off and to keep his reputation in tact because this isn’t a basket case of his making? Or maybe, just maybe - and I know this is rare in modern football - DM is a man of integrity and is eyeing a fresh start next year with him re-shaping the team for a promotion push?
  2. I haven’t heard his interview. I was a massive advocate of his. I think he’s done a very good job at most of the clubs he’s been at, other than Huddersfield, so thought I’d be a solid appointment. I cannot blame him one iota for the mess we are in. The squad is utter garbage…worse than Bruno/Brown. However, I’m worried that he’s the right man at the wrong time i.e. on the wrong end of an horrendous run at Huddersfield and not had time to reflect on where it went wrong there. I do think, in hindsight, Steve Evans would have been better and was there for the taking. Hindsight eh…
  3. I’m done with this season. Absolutely garbage. That I suppose is the luxury of not having a season ticket, thanks to Vale’s admin cock up in shifting is from Bycars. Stupidly, I probably will get a S/T next year because it’s a PITA at the moment getting 3 seats together in the Hamil where your view isn’t obscured.
  4. Dwight Gayle scoring. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t happening to us. Ex-Stoke. Absolutely pillared for being an overpaid, overweight, out of form mercenary. We were clambering for him to sign as our saviour. He signs for Derby instead but is initially lambasted for being an overpaid, overweight, out of form mercenary. Scores his first goal for Derby against….. yep, Port Vale.
  5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but am I right in thinking that we’ve not had a shot on target against Derby this season?? #norelegationonmywatch
  6. The least surprising thing to happen today…. Gayle scoring. Shambles.
  7. Didn’t take long did it. Only another 86+ minutes to go 🫣
  8. What’s the phrase…. you can’t polish a 💩??? And DM has taken on a big stinking floater of one. I’ll consider anything under 4 respectable. The fear is this could be another Barnsley, unfortunately. You can count on Dwight Gayle - whose recent performances have been nothing short of atrocious by all accounts - scoring tomorrow.
  9. This is worse than Brown’s or Aspin’s sides. I’d say the worst Vale squad I’ve ever seen. There are only two players that I think other clubs would possibly be interested in - Garrity for sure, possibly Ripley. I’ll go further and say that if this team played the first 10 games in L2 we’d be way adrift at the bottom. It feels like the 2021/22 season has all been completely and utterly wasted. People busy congratulating themselves in their ivory towers and completely taking their eyes off the ball. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, our recruitment has been absolutely shocking but the January window seems to have a Kryponite-like effect on the club. We literally don’t know how to handle it. It’s quite staggering, it really is. So what’s that now, about 5 wins in 60 games or something??? Wow, just wow. I was a big advocate of Moore but I’m starting to doubt myself that he’s the right man for us at this time. Maybe we needed a Steve Evans-type character who could create that “them vs us” mentality to at least try to battle & fight our way out of trouble because there doesn’t seem to be much evidence so far. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he walked, he has been sold an absolute dud. I’m literally running out adjectives to describe just how sh!te we are.
  10. The thing is, when it went to 2-1 we all knew what was coming. As someone said, it’s the most Port Vale thing ever. A team absolutely bereft of grit and desire to win. Somebody just end the season now please because it has been an absolute shocker and we’ve still got 13 games to ensure.
  11. That line up is a surprise but, fair play to DM, nowt else has worked so why not try it? Sooner that then stick to the same tepid system which yields zero anyway. I’ve been resigned to L2 football since about 6am on Friday 2 February so hopefully DM is seeing who he wants around next year. I like the look of a Pulis-style 4-2-3-1 with a solid back line and two DM’s with a busy front 4. To me it’s irrelevant really whether Dipepa or Loft plays, you’ve no idea what you’re going to get in either case. I expect the worst and predict another 0-2 as they’ll just try and kick lumps out of us, but this is the ongoing circus that is Port Vale so we’ll probably win 4-0.
  12. Indeed….potentially c.£35m…..ouch!
  13. Now I know this is in no way related to this thread or helps us with our current predicament, but there are rumours on the Oatcake that our stripey-eyed friends are about to or have sacked Schumacher.
  14. You do realise that DM has been left with one of the - if not THE - worst Vale squads of the last 40 years, and no way of changing it before the end of the season?? If we had Guardiola or Klopp in charge, we would be in EXACTLY the same position, i.e. having to decide whether a CBA Loft or inexperienced Dipepa plays up front with a half-fit Wilson, or which CB / Midfielder gets to play LB. I just thought I’d check as your post suggests you weren’t aware of this not so minor issue.
  15. Agree bar the implication of the last comment. This isn’t Moore’s mess. He’s got to somehow cobble together a team to get results. Before he came, it was 3 wins in 25, so it’s not like he has tools at his disposal. In the absence of “the new manager bounce” which was always unlikely with our mish-mash squad, my worry is that it’s Huddersfield all over for him… a dark cloud hanging over the club which he can’t shake off to get us going, and inevitably ends with a parting of the ways. Hope I’m wrong as I did/do think he was the best pick of everyone that was mentioned.
  16. Like Cheltenham and numerous others, it all goes to sh!t in the final quarter. Haven’t had iFollow because I knew we wouldn’t get anything. We are a poor side, a horrible mish-mash of players “who can do a job” which is very much reminiscent of the Bruno/Brown mess from our last foray into L1. I seem to recall we were flying high early doors then and then our form dropped off a cliff after an horrendous January window. And hey presto…. Moore hasn’t a hope in Hell in salvaging this season. I sort of feel sorry for him, the rot has well and truly set in and it can be very difficult to stop. If anyone can see where 7 wins are coming from then they’re a better person than me.
  17. I still don’t believe it’s not a back 3 (I’m not watching on iFollow btw). I need evidence!!!! 😂
