Calm down dear. You were on this thread as well and you both make people pull their hair out. It was a joke!

I know but i wasn't in any way the subject of the thread or mentioned in any of the posts until you made me so (again). As to pulling hair out, seems to me that it's not me who needs to calm down if people are pulling their hair out over posts on a forum.

I find smileys are very useful for conveying "jokes" on here ;) and it's a good thing to take note of them when they are used

You havent understood the whole point of this thread at all have you.

I know what spain have achieved - Thats irrelevant to the topic

Rivalino playing as winger - What?

Barcelona team of 2010/11 - again, 2 years ago! They arent the same team. If we are allowed a time machine I'm gonna put maradona in my best 11 for this year!

Barecelona may strengthen for next year - Again, we arent talking about next year!

Any thread that you can bang on about barcelona and spain, and you will, regardless of whether its relevant.

Im starting to think that you are must be a WUM (or johnnyaitch's alter ego!).

Spain are the number 1 ranked team in the world now, last year and so on. As an example of their performance this year they won 1-0 in Paris against France to go top of their qualifying group. So I am pointing out they are the best team with the best players. And would take Bayern Munich apart if they ever played.

But again, that's not what this thread is about us it. The fact that they don't include your hero messi shows that.

Just reading peoples arguments about Barca and Bayern. Ultimately tactics play a huge part Bayern had a better manager who tactically out thought his opposite number. Barcelona's back line is poor. Pique has had some shockers. Bayern had a plan and stuck to it. If I had to consider tactics when picking my world XI then I'd be here all ****** day!

The point of the thread is to pick your best 11 individual players from last season form any team you wish. Not to pick the team that was the best

So yes Spain may well trounce Bayern Munich but is anyone suggesting that Messi or Ronaldo would not get in a world XI cos neither plays for Spain? They they are not better than the Spaniard who plays in their position in the Spain team?

Yes, there is a lot of sense in this. However, we should remember that Villanova is a first year manager and has beat the special one to the La Liga title. I thought he made gross mistakes in team selection against Bayern. However, it is also important to note that he has cancer and has spent several months off work and in America getting treatment. He has been running the team from a distance.

It will be interesting to see what Barcelona do at the end of the season with the manager. They cannot compete in my view with a manager who is ill and may have to change temporarily or permanently.

Pique has struggled sometimes this season, that is partly his fault, but he has also been run ragged because of the extent of the defensive injuries that have lasted the whole season. It is interesting that people perceive Barcelona as weak defensively but Valdes has kept well over 200 clean sheets in his career and won the the award as keeper for least goals conceded the last 4 years in La Lig. He won't win this year. They clearly need to get the defenders they have fit and sign new ones. Eric Abidel, who has recovered from a liver transplant, has just been released. Puyol is in for repair, Mascherano is now getting fit and is an option in certain games using withdrawn forwards. But basically they need to sign a top class centre half.

Also, it would not surprise me to see Pique used at centre forward next season in some games. He has the dribbling, passing and heading ability and is actually very good in the opposition box. Otherwise I expect them to sign a top but older bigger striker, prepared to be a bench impact player, who can offer more direct and physical attack when needed.

My posts on here are a bit wider to give some background as I watch La Liga quite a lot. I think there is a lot of issues worth knowing about beyond the limited coverage afforded by ITV etc re the Champions League.
